Hey!

Do you think it is good to take vitamins?

The ones I am thinking about include:

One A Day Weight Smart 32 mg EGCG Ephedra free.

And there is "Dona Maximum strength Crystalline Glucosamine Sulfate dietary supplement" To promote healthy cartilage, lubricate joints, support joint mobility and flexibility and to protect cartilage."

What do you think?

I used to manage a health foods store, so I know a little something about this stuff.

All of the things you mentioned are good for you. But they can also be very expensive. Try to find the off-brands, they're almost always just as good. Or buy someplace cheap like Wal-Mart.

Greetings Hippo...

It used to be that we had locally grown food sources that were produced in good soil without additives and the crops were switched around to maintain good soil for the next crop. Animals were not given hormones or genetically engineered (same with crops). Soil nutrients have dropped dramatically as superlarge mega farms are run by industries, not necessarily by some lone farmer.

Ideally we would all live in small farm communities, perhaps like the Minonites and there we might find communal help and a trade mentality.

I do not believe God has any problem with us taking vitamins. It is written: "It is not what goes into a man, but what comes out of his mouth, for what comes out of his mouth proceeds from his heart. This is what God is interested in. I am sure he sorrows greatly how corrupt this world has become and how we have taken a perfectly good world and turned it upside down for the sake of "the love of money".

I would go with my conscience. If the Lord is impressing you NOT take vitamins, then by all means be obedient. But we know that "according to your faith be it unto you."

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

As a nursing student I've got some opinions about vitamins. I would first find out how much of which kinds of vitamins I should be taking (talk to your doctor, check out some nutrition websites) then find a vitamin that will give you what you need. Because unfortunaly vitamins aren't something your body can really stock up on. If you have to much of a vitamin the excess simply gets flushed out of your system. So you end up spending money on something your body isn't even using.

Just a little cautionary statment. But other than that, I don't think their is anything spiritually wrong with vitamins.

I, too, suggest you talk to your doctor. There are some things that you can get too much of that can be detrimental to your health.

Both of my daughters have a pale look to them, and at first glance a couple of doctors have told them to start taking iron pills or vitamins with iron. We now have learned to have them do a blood test, because they both have VERY high iron counts. The doctors have told them both to never get on iron without a blood test because their iron count is so high that additional iron would do more harm than good. Even when Melody was pregnant, she was told to stay off iron.

A good doctor will run tests to see what vitamins would be best for you if any.

In my experience (extensive), most doctors don't know a thing about nutrition or vitamins. They're trained to recommend drugs , not natural or nutritional remedies. So asking a doc won't help, in most cases.

You can talk to a doctor about it.

Personally, I won't take vitamins. The reason for that is that they're basically suplimentals. For me at a relatively young age it's stupid to take suplimentals when I don't need them. I mean, if I eat right and excersize, I don't need them. I remember reading somewhere that your body can actually develope a dependency upon them.

However, I think when you're younger and still growing, or older and your body can't handle the excersize, or you have something wrong in your system, vitamins are perfect.

Hi Beth, I once in a while I rely on vitamin supplements to keep me healthy during busy weeks when i know my food intake may be sparse. I also supplement my diet with vitamin c tabs during the winter to keep the bugs away. I am not an expert on vitamins at all and the best place to get them is in a healthy balanced diet. But for those who can' tolerate a lot of fruits and vegetables a supplement may be needed. As far as minerals go I am not sure how we get those through our diet regularly, but i know they exsist in foods. I would just caution you to check everything out before you purchase any as some cost a lot and don't do everything they claim them to do.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
