Gates don't attack, as a matter of fact they can't attack; they just hold something in or out. If we would batter them down the captives would be set free.

That's an improper interpretation of the idiom in this sentence. When Christ is talking about how the "Gates of Hell" shall not prevail against His church He's talking about what is behind them. The point of a gate is to restrict and to hold back. More importantly a Gate was used along with a wall and a wall displayed the extent of protected territory. Christ is saying that hell won't gain the terriroty against His church that it will eventually overtake it. It isn't our job to beat down the gates of hell because they have already been conquered through Christ.

Again the only answer anyone has given in response to my position is from the world or ridicule. Where is the scripture to back up your position? You accuse me of being "a legalist." Is that all you can do is resort to name calling and ridicule?

Legalist is not name calling, it's an accurate description. You use scripture but hey, so did Satan. It's the interpretation and application of scripture that determines the effectiveness. It is my belief that you've misinterpreted the scripture, the application, and the things you accuse.

2Co 6:17  Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you,

If you don't separate yourself from the things of the world you won't be accepted. Isn't that what this scripture says? What are these unclean things that we are not to touch?(NT)

This is what I mean. You're misapplying and misinterpreting the scripture to fit a legalistic way. This is talking about a marriage union with the unbelievers (context is found in vs. 14). It's not talking about seperating ourselves from the world but from not having the same morals as the world or be unified (sexually) with them. You have to prove that fairy tales are evil anyway...and I think we know from the music discussion that when asked for proof you remain silent.

Jas 4:4  Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Where did the ideas of fairies, goblins, spells, etc. come from? The Holy Spirit? I think not. God does not condone that which He condemns.

Where in the Bible does it say that it has to come from the Holy Spirit in order for it to be applicable? Also, friendship is still a union, a close bond, or holding the morals of the world.

Deut. 18:9

THIS ISN'T A FAIRY TALE. IT'S A STORY ABOUT A JEWISH MAIDEN. COULD VERY WELL HAVE SOME TRUTH TO THE ACTUAL FACTS OF THE CONVERSION OF A JEWISH GIRL....

Therefore my point that we shouldn't throw the baby out witht eh bath water. The fact is that fairy tales do not in any way promote paganism, nor do they blur reality for our children. I've said it over and over again here, and in other places, it all boils down to what the parents are doing. Parents - especially Christian parents - need to take active roles in their children's lives, and raise them in the traditions of our fathers, to impart to them our rich heritages.

I believe that it disingenuous of any Christian to criticize something as innocuous as a children's story when there are real evils out in world that, if we were to place as much energy into fighting as we do these minor issues, could be radically changed for God's purpose. Helping our kids to differentiate between fairy tale fiction and the reality of Christ's shed blood takes relatively little time compared to combating the real evils of this world in general, and the moral decline of our country in particular. Even to the degree that this is almost a non-issue.

If some parents don't want to read fairy tales to their kids because they have a certain conviction, then fine; they don't have to. But please don't criticize other parents who don't share that same conviction.

Beau,

How can you teach anybody if you cannot distinguish between a fairy tale and a simple story? And just because H. C. Anderson was a christian does not mean that what he wrote is "good" or godly in every instance. The ONLY STANDARD FOR GOOD IS JESUS CHRIST.(period) And He does not condone what He condemns. No matter who writes it.

If some parents don't want to read fairy tales to their kids because they have a certain conviction, then fine; they don't have to.  But please don't criticize other parents who don't share that same conviction.
You extrapolate conclusions that wer not made to suit you own thinking. Faithie ask for opinions on fairy tales. I haven't told anyone what to do. I just backed up what I believe BY THE SCRIPTURES. She drew her own conclusion based on what was written here. Didn't you read it? Have I called you "stupid, dumb, ignorant," or any other name? Yet you label me a "legalist."
Let me join you...
How can you "respect me as a brother" and ridicule me in the next breath? You claim to be a part of the "restoration church" and you don't see that the church in America is aposticising.

Let's take a look at the whole passage.

1 Cor. 6:14  Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

15  And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

16  And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

17  Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

18  And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

7:1

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
