The wind speeds were not as high but the internal pressures were lower and it moved much slower. I have some friends that were in their cellar when their house was just vaccumed up and disappeared. The front that's causing it is just very slowly moving across the state...... so when the air heats up during the afternoon these huge thunderstorms pop up.
