Myths about Catholics

Hi all, this is my first post, so please bear with me. I'm not trying to convert anyone to Catholicism, but...

 

Many Protestants have misinterpreted Catholic doctrine 

 

For one, we DO NOT WORSHIP MARY. WE HAVE NEVER WORSHIPED HER. WE NEVER WILL ...

 

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

 

"... Being obedient, she became the cause of salvation for herself and for the whole human race ... Death through Eve, life through Mary (494). 

 

"... the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress and Mediatrix (969).

 

And long ago I recall a Medieval picture hanging in NYC's Cloisters depicting Mary as co-redemptrix in a four-sided Trinity, so "misinterpretations" are to be expected.

Does The Church Really Save?

 

Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

 

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

And Does Our Suffering?

 

Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not. So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do. Luke 17:9-10

 

Really Clean Our Sins?

 

And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 1 Peter 1:17-19              

 

And Was Beloved Mary?

 

And Mary said:“My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindfulof the humble state of his servant.

Really The Queen Of Heaven?

 

The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

 

Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces? Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched. And Can A Man Change God's Word?

Who Will You Serve?

 

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Joshua 24:15
