you should not speak of odds or probabilities, those are not in the favor of the evolutionist.

Why? Because you say so?

I thought you were knowledgeable on this topic. the odds have never been in the favor of evolution, only vast amounts of time make them tenable.

It is also the driving force behind the multiverse theory.

Physics is the science behind the multiverse theory, not evolutionary biology. The 'driving force' if there is one and if it can be called that, is the Higgs Boson. The math is vastly beyond me, but it is basically about trying to make the math that describes the universe add up.

"It all has to do with one of the main theoretical puzzles in fundamental physics," explains Barr. "Why is the mass of the Higgs particle 17 orders of magnitude smaller than its 'natural' value?"

Two explanations have been proposed, and both of them predict new phenomena that should be seen by the LHC. But so far, there is no hint of them.

"That is why our radical proposal nearly 15 years ago is attracting increasing attention," he adds.

Their idea is that the Higgs boson mass has to have an "unnaturally" small value for life to be possible. In other words, if it didn't, we wouldn't be here.

Barr explains that one way to account for this is to say that the Higgs boson mass varies place to place (which can happen in a multiverse) and only in those rare places where it has the right, unnaturally small value would life emerge and someone exist who could measure it.

I didn't say evolution was the force behind the multiverse theory, I said probability was.

Then I don't understand.  Are you saying that probabilities as a whole is the driving force behind the multiverse theory, or are you saying that the multiverse theory was designed to make the probability of evolution work?  Also, the issue which physicists had with the Higgs Boson and other particles wasn't their probability, it was their mass.  Please explain what you mean?

I will give a full response tonight, too much to type on a phone and links are too hard to do.

But in a nutshell the probability of the mass of the HB being what we have determined it to be are minuscule.

Throw in a multiverse and now the HB can have a different mass in each universe, thus bypassing the slim odds of it being at the mass determined

Or its measurement is spread across the universes and added together it works out.  But probability calculations aren't what's used to calculate what the mass of HB is supposed to be, as I understand it it's all the other calculations that work which require that the measurement be larger than it thusfar appears to be.  It's like something along the lines of Z is green, X is yellow.  If x + y = green then it only makes sense for y to be blue.  Now add in a bunch of match that says colour Z is a shade of green that requires 2 parts blue and 1 part yellow.  Through observations scientists have determined that the shade of green is indeed what one would expect from 1 part yellow and 2 parts blue.  Scientists then confirm through tests that the yellow part is indeed 1 part yellow.  But then when they analyse the blue part it's no negligible that it shouldn't alter the colour at all!  Zoiks!  Egads!  But wait!  What if there is tinted film that we were as yet unaware of and do not yet have the instruments to observe!  What if it's multiple layers of blue tinted film.  That would explain the shade of green!  Maybe just maybe.  It's only a theory, but for now it works.  So, our intrepid scientists reason, if these layers of film exist what else can we observe that would result from this?
