Anyone here seeing this in church?

(Ignore how most of the article is about mormons. They do get to Christian churches later.)

It's not even just at Church but so many people now seem to compulsively fiddle with their phones no matter where they are or what they're doing. It's irritating some times when your trying to talk to someone and they just randomly start fiddling with their phone lol.

oh yeah.  it's a problem at my church.  there is actually a rule against electronics now, lol.

the running motto is:

"Connect with the heavens, not the internet. "  :biggrin2:

i've had to tell the kids in bible study that the study is more important than instagram and facebook.

they all giggle and put their phones up.

some cling to the excuse of using their tablets/phones as their bibles.

that's when i show up with a thick Big-Lettered KJV for them. lol

I have the bible on my phone and I love it for when I am out and about but I hate it for church use. It is really isolating and not inviting of fellowship at all.

God has fulfilled His prophecy in Daniel of increase of knowledge-

Dan 12:4

4 "But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time

of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase."
NKJV

this is so we know we are at the time of the end... lets live as though there is no tomorrow as we see today His Word fulfilled! Use the increase of knowledge to His Glory as He has caused it to be...   Love, Steven

In our church people are welcome to use their physical Bibles, smart phones, or touchpads. Electronics are okay as long as you don't get sidetracked.

Personally, I find note taking on my phone a lot easier than a piece of paper I will loose.

I use BibleGateway app and Bible.is primarily. I like the search features.

It's also great to pull up or look up a worship song on my phone to listen to later at home.

My 2 cents ;)

God bless,

GE

I think the problem is with people texting and surfing Facebook during services.  I have seen it happen a lot at other churches.  My church is made up mostly of older people and we don't have a problem with it.

I love the feel of my old bible in my hands. I switch my phone onto silent mode during church and leave it like that. My wife uses her iPad because she has e sword on it, and I find it handy when the pastor says we are reading from "Esther 1: 2 - 7" for example. It is far faster to find the verse than paging through ones bible.

Their should be a rule in all churches no cell phones. That doesn't matter they go off in spite of the rules. They are very disruptive.People are addicted to cell phones so what do you expect?

Using phones and tablets to use bible apps on them or to take notes during a sermon is one thing. And not a bad thing. But to use them to hang out on facebook or text friends etc during church service shows a heart not focused on the Lord during worship. Now I admit that my mind sometimes wanders during church. Im human. If a song is boring, my mind wanders. If I hear a sudden noise, I look around. But I try and stay focused.
