I was shocked, then sickened, then saddened. For the rest of the day, I wondered: What kind of people are we? What kind of culture have we created? What do we want our children to be? No more wondering. Tonight, I weep. Read the rest here

I saw some of it and got sick to my stomach...She is not cut out for that type of thing at all period...it's quite obvious... The show that Miley used to be on was (in my opinion) appropriate for my daughter to watch...and I let her watch it... It is sad when a parent has to say to their child, "Well Hanna Montana (she knows her real name is Miley Cyrus) is going down the wrong path now and you aren't allowed to watch her now at all!" I Pray For Her To Really Know The One True God and Jesus Christ Whom He Sent...To Know The Truth That Will Make Her Free...In The Name of Jesus... The youngest daughter, whom I haven't seen since she was 2 or 3, is now 13 or 14, has things posted on her page that actually sickened me. This person that I knew, vowed to have a Christian marriage that was an example to all and vowed to bring up his children for the Lord. One daughter has an incurable STD and was involved in a tragic accident that has left her incapable of following the vocation she wanted as it is too physically demanding. The son made his girlfriend pregnant at the ripe old age of 17 and they got married. The youngest daughter, the one whose fb page made me ill, is a head turning beautiful young woman....and is obviously enamoured of herself and with the examples of her two older siblings, I cannot imagine a good outcome. I don't think their father knows about the fb postings as she is making fun of the ignorance of her parents. The mother would just say 'well she's young and needs to get it out of her system"...which is what she said about her eldest daughter who is in her early 20's. The damage to girl one is permanent. The son is not even 20, has had his university plans put aside and now has a wife and child to support. I have not mentioned what I have seen to anyone...and I don't want to. This is not the world I grew up in....I briefly watched a vid of Mily Cyrus and turned it off quick. Sodom and Gomorrah may have been worse, but I think have more excuse. It is painful to see what is happening...only prayer could possibly make a dent in anything and it seems each family is so busy with their own little world, that the bigger picture, the shocking bigger picture, does not get the attention it should get. We have the microcosm and the macrocosm...the little world within the bigger world. I am grieved over these...to me children, since that is what they were the last time I saw them.... And yes, I cry. If you do not mention what you saw about that old friends kids facebook pages, then arent you being "so busy in your own little world" instead of helping? As for miley, the hardest part of what happened on that awards show is that her mother was proud of her. How could miley know better when her own mother supports that kind of behavior? Guest Butero
People are getting mixed messages today. They are encouraged to express themselves, and that almost anything is art. In all likelihood, Miley and her Mother are shocked at all the criticisms of the performance? After all, we are living in a culture where nearly anything goes. Rush Limbaugh was talking about that today, and wondering if people would be as upset if it were Beyoncé doing this as opposed to the girl who used to be Hanna Montana? He was talking about how many R&B videos that young people view on channels on MTV are just as perverse as what she did, and they weren't criticized. How can we expect someone to know they are doing wrong when others doing the exact same thing are given a nod of approval, or at least, there is no criticism? Rush Limbaugh wasn't approving of it. He said it was just shy of pornography, but he was just surprised by the outrage, given the way other perverse things are acceptable. Maybe the negative reaction will cause her to pause before she performs again? I personally don't think she expected anything to be said, and I am a little surprised, not because she was doing right, but because this society has been so tolerant of every deviancy under the sun? When you have outrage like this, especially from people that are usually pretty liberal, you are kind of taken aback. I am not surprised Christians are upset, but I am surprised by the reaction of the world? I am not complaining. I just don't understand it, unless it is because she used to be Hanna Montana? (so what if she covered intimate parts of her body with a sheet? the photographer saw all... her parents were pimping her out for money and fame.) i have no use for miley. i have less use for her parents. i am ashamed to say that i sit high and lofty in my judgment of them, and i pray that God will not only forgive me for that, but that He will help me learn to be less judgmental and more prayerful of others deviances. Guest LadyC
yep, it was for vanity fair magazine. i just googled it, apparently she was only topless, not completely nude. whatever. i guess not much has changed, while googling that i discovered that this year she has her nude body on a t-shirt for a charity for skin cancer awareness. i wonder, if her parents had been more responsible with their parenting, would she be doing these things today? i hope not. anyway, i need to get off my high horse. Jesus died for the sins of the cyrus family as much as he died for mine.

'Pimping out' is the operative phrase....that whole family makes me sick. She is so obscene that, if I had my way, she would be arrested for the performance at the VMAs. (And I only saw the snippets that Fox and CNN showed on the news.) But, like you say, none of us can really judge them; it's not our place. I am betting there was a lot of pressure put on her by her producers, etc. to go this route. After all, she's competing against Madonna and Lady Gaga (music style and such). How much of her actions are their call vs. her ideas is debatable. I'd lead towards the producers calling the shots and her following their lead.
