Purple Chris,

You said,

"Regarding Gal. 5:12, the word Paul uses there is "apokopto" which means "to cut off, to cut away, amputate, mutilate" and is used in Mark 9:43, 45; John 18:10, 26 of cutting off a hand and an ear. In Galatians Paul is speaking aganist the one who is speaking against Paul and is preaching a "gospel" that puts people in bondage to legalism. And he uses harsh language hear that the Bible does use to speak of cutting off a body part, but of course here it is figurative, as he has just spoken about circumcision. Paul is not advocating the actual mutilation of a person and nor any version. "

Which greek did that word "apokopto" come from, the majority Greek manuscripts that the KJV translators used, or the Greek manuscripts that were used to translate the NIV, RSV, NASB etc.? Also, if Paul did use the greek word "apokopto", which means to cut off, then why didn't these new versions translators use the word "cut" not "mutilate" in Acts 27:32? Paul was indeed not talking about cutting off a body part at all in Gal. 5:12, and neither was "mutilation" being refered to in "cut off the ropes" in Acts 27:32. The Greek word "apokopto" may have been in those corrupt Greek manuscrips, but not in the majority manuscrips. As far as "strain at a gnat", I thought that was explained to you already.

The NIV, NASB, and others make man to be higher than what he is, for example, the NIV and NASB says in Psalms 8:5, "Yet thou hast made him a little lower than GOD.", but the KJV says, " For thou hast made him a little lower than the ANGELS." Another example, the NIV, and NASB says in Heb. 2:7, "Thou hast made him FOR A LITTLE WHILE lower than the angels.", WHILE THE KJV says, " Thou madest him a little lower than the angels" What does your RSV say in those verses? If it says the same as the NIV, or NASB, then you should know there is something wrong with it, because man was not made a little lower than God, or man was not made even for a little while lower than the angels. Here is a question for you? Do you treat your body severly? do you have self abasement? Acording to your RSV, Col. 2:23 says something like, " self abasement and severity to the body", so, do you mistreat your body? The KJV has, "humility...... neglecting of the body". Paul wasn't talking about mistreating his body and treating it severly, but according to your RSV, and also the NIV, and NASB, he was. Paul was talkling about denying himself and humbling himself, and not letting his flesh take over, not treating it harshly, severly, abasement as the others versions say. I try to say "no" to my flesh, and one way that I do that is by fasting for a day or so, and denying worldly pleasures that would be displeasing to God, I don't treat my self harshly.

Do you pommel your body as your RSV says in 1 Cor. 9:27? The NIV says, 'I beat my body", and you and I both know that Paul was not talking about beating or pommeling his body when he said, "I keep under [keep down] my body, and bring it into subjection." in the KJV. None of the Greek words for "beat" {dero, tupto, proskopto, prosregnumi, or rhabdizo} are in the sentence; nor is the word "punish" {kolazo, timorea}, or "buffet" {kolaphizo}. The word used is "hupopiazo" Maybe the new version translators used those Greek words, like for example, the Living Bible has the word "punish", and the NASB has "buffet", and the NIV has "beat", but the Greek words for "beat", "punish" or "buffet" were not in that verse {1 Cor. 9:27}.

In Daniel 11:36, the NIV, NASB, The Living Bible, and even your RSV says, "the gods { small "g" and plural} of his fathers.", while the KJV says, "Neither shall he regard the God {capital "G" singular} of his fathers." You know that those fathers had and worshipped one God {Jehovah}, not gods. There are many more corruptions in your RSV and the NIV, NASB,etc. Your RSV was translated from other "original" Greek manuscripts, not the majority the KJV translators used.

Home is a nice place to be! Back from a little vacation and visiting a lot of family!...but it's always good to get back home.

Hi salt and light...miss me? :24:

I think it's safe to say that we won't find agreement in this area based on you quoting what you believe to be "corrupt" verses in non-KJ translations and me explaining why they are not corrupt. Your "proving" them to me as corrupt and my "proving" to you that they aren't is not getting us anywhere. I assume your Pastor would explain the word "apokopto" to your congregation and help them understand why Paul would use such a harsh term and what his readers would understand it to mean, wouldn't he? So would I. After reading that Judas was sad for betraying Jesus to the point of hanging himself, he wouldn't teach that sad people that are not saved should hang themselves, would he? Nor would I. And the explanation given for "strain at a gnat" was not correct. The KJ is translated in error. If you do not believe me, ask to see your Pastors copy of his Greek NT and check it out for yourself. Look at the word, look up it's meaning.

Let me simply ask this...you reject the work of Wescott and Hort based on what you've read and heard about them being immoral. What do you know of the men that translated the KJ? Can you say that they were all moral men? And if you do not know all of them, how do you know they can be trusted as you obviously do?

And related, I'll ask again...did any of the KJ translators make the same claim about it that you do?

I will address this point...

Actually I think you mean 11:37, not 36. I checked 36 and all the versions you listed translate it the same and have some different wording. For verse 37 the KJ and NKJ both have "God of his fathers" while the other versions have "gods of his fathers" and your point being that this verse is referring to God and the corruption is in the word being translated as "gods" instead, right? Let me ask, who is this verse speaking about? What is his name? Who are his fathers? Did they serve God or serve gods? It seems that the answer to those questions would indicate which translation is correct wouldn't they? Do you know the answers to those questions? If not, you can not determine that the KJ translation is correct just because it's the KJ. If the context of the passage indicates that this keing being spoken of is NOT a Jew and his fathers did NOT worship God, then it would be correct to say translate it as little "g" gods and incorrect to translate it as big "G" God.

And regarding Psalm 8:5...what is the Hebrew word in the manuscripts the KJ is translated from? What does it mean?

Fair questions I believe.

Blessings,

Chris

No it doesn't, its just always guilty until proven innocent, and some of us are tired of all the frivolous, innacurate examples of "errors" we have seen over the years. Its nothing but nonsense.

I've been on all those websites, and I've read all their accusations. Most of them don't understand English well enough to cite errors, let alone cite Greek and Hebrew! All these false charges have been answered. I have one book that deals with over 400 supposed "errors" in the KJV. As the man goes through them, you soon realize, its just the devil seeking to destroy our faith in a Book that is more than able to correct us.

Still no one has answers to the questions I've posted? It's not an argument to say something is right because it's right. Right LawyerForGod? The church being weak or Christians not knowing their Bible well isn't to be blamed on translations, but on people. And I know a both people and churches that don't claim the KJ is the only true Bible where both church and people are walking strongly with the Lord. Can one person who ascribes to the KJ only side please tell me the name of any of the KJ translators who made the same claim about the KJ that you do? Does anyone know who first made that claim? Anyone?

Respectfully asking legitimate questions.

Thank you for the link BSWM but in looking at a few of the articles that may have addressed my questions, they did not. If you know of any specific answers to the questions I've asked, I'd be very interested to read them.

Look at this eye opener PC.

Why all the controversy about the King James Bible? Because modern Christian scholarship has CHANGED the Greek Textus Receptus, from which the King James Bible was translated, in 6,000 PLACES!

This is why we have so many omissions in the "modern" versions of the Bible. Words omitted, in brackets, parentheses, or italics, are counted as NOT AUTHENTIC according to BRAINWASHED modern scholarship, represented in part by Griesbach, Lachmann, Tischendorf, Tregelles, Alford, Wordworth, Westcott and Hort.

Here's a list of JUST 200 of these changes. Why don't you go through this list and see how many have been changed in YOUR Bible? It might shock you!

The Apostasy of the Early Church

Prepares the Way for Corrupting Copies of the Original Manuscripts Corruption of the original Bible manuscripts and its influence can be traced from the days of Origen, 200 A.D. down through the committees responsible for the English Revised Version of 1881; American Standard Version of 1901; and all modern Bibles which depart from the Greek Textus Receptus. HERE'S THE ACID TEST

Any version of the Bible, that does not agree with the GREEK TEXTUS RECEPTUS, from which the King James Bible was translated in 1611, is certainly to befounded upon corrupted manuscripts. Origen, being a textual critic, is supposed to have corrected numerous portions of the sacred manuscripts. Evidence to the contrary shows he changed them to agree with his own human philosophy of mystical and allegorical ideas. Thus, through deceptive scholarship of this kind, certain manuscripts became corrupt. Evidently from this source our modern revised version Bibles and paraphrases have come. Read pages 900-902, Vol. 16, 1936 edition Encyclopedia Britannica, and you will see that Origen taught the Lord Jesus Christ is a created being who did not have eternal existence AS God.

WATCH--AND REMEMBER--ALWAYS TO KEEP BOTH EYES OPEN

"After my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, SPEAKING PERVERSE THINGS, to draw away disciples after them. Therefore WATCH, AND REMEMBER, that by the space of three years I ceased not to WARN EVERYONE NIGHT AND DAY WITH TEARS."--Acts 20:29-31.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
