Those suckers were mutant one's, not afraid of light at all! They were captivated by the moistness under the sinks where the pipes leaked. You could kick them across the room and they would come right back to your foot looking for a place to snuggle. Exterminating your house won't keep them out. I spray my window sills and door jambs so, if they do get in, they die in short order. I had all but a couple of trees around my house taken down years ago and it's rare to see one now. I admit, I'm terrified of them. The thought of one in my ear makes me want to hide under the covers!
