Guest yod
duh? I know what the Apocrypha is....I'm wondering what you mean when you say that you "keep" it? Let's look at the context of Zephaniah 3 and talk about it. ========================= Zephaniah 3 6"I have cut off nations; Their corner towers are in ruins. I have made their streets desolate, With no one passing by; Their cities are laid waste, Without a man, without an inhabitant. 7"I said, 'Surely you will revere Me, Accept instruction ' So her dwelling will not be cut off According to all that I have appointed concerning her But they were eager to corrupt all their deeds. 8"Therefore wait for Me," declares the LORD, "For the day when I rise up as a witness Indeed, My decision is to gather nations, To assemble kingdoms, To pour out on them My indignation, All My burning anger; For all the earth will be devoured By the fire of My zeal. 9"For then I will give to the peoples purified lips, That all of them may call on the name of the LORD, To serve Him shoulder to shoulder. 10"From beyond the rivers of (AB)Ethiopia My worshipers, My dispersed ones, Will bring My offerings. 11"In that day you will feel no shame Because of all your deeds By which you have rebelled against Me; For then I will remove from your midst Your proud, exulting ones, And you will never again be haughty On My holy mountain. ==================== My opinion on verse 9? Our tongue is a raging fire from hell. Most people have some amount of control over their actions but none can tame the tongue. I think this tells of a day when no guile will be spoken because our hearts will be purified. The haughty man is humbled, the lofty one brought low. I see this as a parallel to Isaiah 2. From the KJV, do you believe Zephaniah 3:9 is being fulfilled, where He's converting believers to call His true name in a pure clean language? Zephaniah 3:9 For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent. ..is comparable to the experience of Isaiah. Isaiah 6:5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. And you make a big deal what we can eat? I agree certain things are just not good for your health, but remember God gave meat to the Israelites when they complained about the manna? Its not what you eat what will make you unclean but whats on the inside, its says in the bible that its not what you put inside your body what will make you unclean but what comes from the heart because the heart is wicked above all. If God had set me free who can put me in bondage again? If you don't mind sharing...did you grow up believing all of this? " The "F10" there is a footnote - "F10: language: Heb. lip" So, the footnote states that the word translated as "language" in Hebrew actually means "lip." As such, there is no "pure clean language." "Lip does not stand for language, but is mentioned as the organ of speech, by which a man expresses the thoughts of his heart, so that purity of the lips involves or presupposes the purification of the heart." Is this right?
Guest yod
do you believe Zephaniah 3:9 is being fulfilled, where He's converting believers to call His true name in a pure clean language? This verse has nothing to do with converting "believers" or the holy name movement. It is simply saying that there will be no guile spoken again. What a miracle that would be! This is the biggest invisible sin in christians....which is why I have the verse dealing with it in my signature.
