I'm not sure I believe the article. Is there any accurate way to determine what goes on in that country? I think not.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Just because it isnt in America does not mean it is a country of mindless savages.

Cuba has one of the best education, health and welfare setups in the world, it is a fantastic place to live, just because you ahve been brainwashed that "anything that even remotely resembles left wing politics equals bad" does not make it right.

Edited to remove profanity reference.

A.J. Rimmer: I grew up in a communist family, and was absolutely RAISED on the lying tripe you are trying to sling around here. FACT: Cuban families are limited to ONE CHICKEN PER WEEK!!! You call that paradise? If you do, you've got a pretty queer view of paradise. Meanwhile, Papa Fidel is one of the RICHEST MEN IN THE WORLD, with 50+ villas in gorgeous settings all over the globe. Your communist propoganda GOES NOWHERE WITH ME! I'm wise to the lies, even if you are ill-informed enough to believe them.

Answer the FACTS, Komrad Rimmer, the accusation and slur is the last refuge for one who knows he's lost a debate. CAUGHT YOU, DIDN'T I?

PS: NOT ONCE, did I indicate a lack of love, or that I wished you ill. What's going on in your head? Come on; tossing out that 'no love' thing is just like throwing out an accusation of 'racism': a handy 'trick.' Fear of the accusation itself will make many opponents scatter in terror, but it's really nothing but a shibboleth. AND IT'S A TACTIC STRAIGHT OUT OF V.I. LENIN'S 'REVOLUTIONARY CATECHISMS'. Tell me, did you learn it there, or does it come naturally to you?

As one who as actually been to Cuba a few times and has friends who live there now, I would like to say that although Cuba is a beautiful country and has some of the sweetest people I have ever met, I wouldn't live there on a bet. It is an awful place for day to day living. You can rarely take money , go to a market and by food. One must usually stand in lines for rations. A small hard roll for each member of the family each day. Everything from sugar to spaghetti noodles is rationed. When you go into the markets, the shelves are empty. A few shelves had cans on them, but the signs above the cans stated...'The cans are empty.' They were only put there to keep the shelves from being completely bare. I saw markets with no food, meat markets with no meat, pharmacies with no medicine....not even aspirin.

I carry medicine to churches, because when people get sick even their little local clinics, which Cuba has in abundance, have no medicines. Churches , like the one we help are the places where people go to get OTC meds, bandaids and in some cases even prescription drugs.

I know of which I speak. I have visited many countries and have lived in Indonesia and the Philippines. Cuba is not a place I would choose to live unless the Lord sent me there for a reason. Then I know that HE, not Fidel, would meet my needs.

IR :)

Perhaps as well as sending the Cubans sticking plasters you should also work to get the US government embargo on the country lifted. It is hardly surprising that the country faces so many shortages when when the most powerful country in the world, which also happens to be its nearest neighbour is so keen to prevent it from importing the goods that it needs. The USA has cordial relations which much nastier dictators than Castro, leading regimes that have done far less for the people that they govern. As far as I can see the US government is still smarting from the fact that Castro kicked out JFK's Mafia cronies.

Furthermore whatever the Castro regime's human right's abuses, it's worth remembering that the Bush regime is running a concentration camp in their bit of the island, where people are being held and without access to justice.

Oh but what I know, and you evidently do not, is that while the US is sticking to it's guns on the embargo, we are the only ones who are. Spain is building big beautiful hotels in the resort areas. Canada does much business with Cuba. Medicines are manufactured in Cuba....for EXPORT. Cubans are forbidden from taking lobster from the waters....as they say...all the lobsters belong to Fidel. They are exported. Even sugar which is made in Cuba is rationed because most of it is exported.

All the money from these thing is going somewhere, but it is most certainly not into the hands of the people or for the good of the people.

It is not US policy that is hurting the Cuban people. It is the Communist system. which is not truly "communist" at all or the people would be sharing in the profits. It is the Dictatorship of Fidel Castro who is squandering everything on himself and his cronies.

Nobody else is "sticking" to this embargo, because no other government actually supports it. It is just an example of a large state bullying a small state.

so....where is all the money going from the countries that are investing in Cuba? The US embargo is simply something for Castro to blame for the failure of His government to supply the needs of the people.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
