Is Oprah buying loyalty from her fans? On the few occaisions I've had the inclination to watch her shows, I've caught on to the fact that, in almost every episode someone or everyone gets a freebie. Is she then purchasing her audience? Some in her audience respond to her entry with unrestrained fervor, as though she was someone worthy of complete adoration.

Now, I am not against television personalities sharing their exceeding wealth with the masses or underpriveledged. What I don't like, is Oprah's seemingly increasing following, made up largely of women. Age and class don't matter, as long as you are willing to put up with her John Travolta friends and the like. I've heard that JT is a Mormon??? Is she then promoting mormonism, whilst maintaing a pseudo Christian facade?? What is the truth behind this woman and her motivation to lavish her money on those that flock to her shows?

She's got me wondering, I'll tell you.

Its my understanding Travolta is a scientologist as well as Cruise. It promotes self empowerment. No comment on Oprah.

Yes, Travolta and Cruise are both Scientologists.

Back when I used to have television, (I turned off the cable because I couldn't stand the negativity, cursing, crude jokes, sexual innuendos and unhealthy entertainment.) I used to enjoy watching Oprah at times. I do not know her heart and will not judge her but I will say that I became uncomfortable tuning in. The idolization of her is disturbing. I don't know if she claims to be a Christian or not but I've heard her say many times that she believes in God. She also tells people that God is her "higher power" but "you people can call him anything you want. I call him God."

Your right about Travolta and Cruise being scientologist. That cult looks for the ones with alot of wealth. There not intrested in anyone who done not have wealth. As for me and my house..we will serve the Lord.

There was a time that I thought Oprah was a believer. Her mother was certainly a Christian, and there is no doubt that she was raised in a Christian home. Did you know her name was originally supposed to be "Orpah"? Orpah was Ruth's sister-in-law in the Bible. Apparently there was some kind of mix up in the hospital and she wound up with Oprah instead.

In any case, it is clear that Oprah has been heavily influenced by all the New Age mumbo-jumbo that floats around Hollywood and most of Southern California. It's sad, really.

Well,

I have a 2 sided answer.

1. I do watch the show. So, to explain the extravagant giving is that the theme for 2004-2005 season is "Wildest Dreams Come True". She is telling the country that none of our wildest dreams are unreachable. So that is what she is doing, fulfilling some of her viewers wildest dreams.

2. I have a huge problem with her wishwashy spiritualism. I would never say that she claims to be a Christian. I would say she uses Christian terminology to explain her "Spirituality Beliefs", which I think stem from Maya Angelou. I do see women freak out when Oprah enters, and I think it can be a bit much BUT don't you remember going to a concert when you were a kid and being overwhelmed with excitement when you saw the artist. Even at Christian Concerts. It is exciting to meet someone who you watch everyday or listen to their music, they seem so unreachable, and then there they are. So I understand the pandemonium.

I love watching her show this year because I LOVE watching people get things they have wanted all their life, I love to see the joy, like Extreme Home Makeover. I also like her informative shows about women all over the world and Africa etc. I often, don't like her commentary, but I don't feel like she is a very educated woman anyway. It is the show she delivers that I watch, not her. I think that many women are like me who watch the show. We don't idiolize her, but if we met her we would be a little star struck.

Just my 2 cents.

Oprah has been sharing with her audience for a long time, depending on the guest, what they may have, etc. Just yesterday, there were several products, new products, one for each of the audience.

This is nothing new for her, and I commend her for what she does.

Can Do, that orange print is pretty hard to read :)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
