Who was Melchizedek? Was he Jesus or a separate individual? 7 This Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the defeat of the kings and blessed him, 2 and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, the name Melchizedek means “king of righteousness”; then also, “king of Salem” means “king of peace.” 3 Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, resembling the Son of God, he remains a priest forever. Hi Samonee I believe that Melchizedek was "The Word of God" The same "Word" that was in the beginning with God, the same "Word" that everything was created through, and for, that same "Word" that was made into flesh, and called Jesus Christ. Hebrews 7:2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; No one on earth can claim these titles, but Christ. The difference is Melchizedek was not "born" but just appeared, then vanished. And when Christ returns he is claiming his own throne back, not anothers, because he was the first King of Jerusalem (spiritually speaking) and he was witnessed by Abraham. How blessed was Abraham to personally meet the Word of God, and give tithes to him, what an honour! Christ is the preminence of everything, and he was translated into Melchizedek before even "born", to be recognised as the King of Peace, but only to Abraham, and now revealed to us. Revelation 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

Both names mean "lord of (or is) righteousness", both were kings of (Jeru)Salem, both lack recorded genealogical records. Except one is an imposter, a phony, and an adversary. Indeed, Josh 10 reads like Revelation- a 10 king coalition lead by a false type of Christ, being fought by a guy with Jesus' Hebrew name (Joshua); in defeat the kings hide in caves, and their defeat is accompanied by signs in he sun and moon. Oh, and if Adonizedek can have this same name and title, and clearly is NOT Christ, it clearly means that the person's name is just a clue to their role, not some kind of absolute proof. The context, and what is written by divinely inspired commentators like Paul (or, "the author of the book of Hebrews") has far more sway in the proper interpretation of these passages.
