Fair enough.  The view is very dominant in the Tea Party although I'm sure there are some who disagree.  Glad to know you are against sweeping generalizations.

 

 

 

Hmm. Im in favor of the tea party and I have an interracial marriage. We have not experienced racism within the tea party.

 

 

You endorsed the racially drawn generalization that racism in this country is one-sided. 

 

That was not what was claimed.  No one said that racism in the US is one sided.  The article draws attention to the fact that the liberal media only finds their outrage at hate crimes if they think they can pin the hate crime on white people against African Americans.     When the hate crime is black on white, that doesn't get any coverage and there is a history of this disparity.

 

People like Sharpton and Jackson only speak out against hate crimes if the victim is African American.  They never find any outrage when the perpetrator is black and the victim is white or if the victim is African American or any other race.

I am not spoiling for anything and you have already participated in the discussion.  I am the first person on this thread that disagreed with the original post.  Sorry if that feels threatening but I'm assuming the forum welcomes contrary opinions and does not consider that spoiling for a fight.

it will fall on deaf ears, justin. his mind is made up. but facts are simple... in this society, the overall mentality is blacks are repressed, whites are bigots. it can't be that people of all races should be held accountable for their actions.

 

on a side note, i was listening to a christian radio broadcast today. they were talking about a study that had confirmed that children with a father present in the home indicated a marked higher IQ... this was true for all age groups of children studied, starting with groups as early as 6 months and continuing into early adulthood. it also didn't matter whether the father was smart, dumb, rich or poor or even if he was a "good" dad. in most cases, the children had higher iq, better communication skills, and less social problems simply because a father was part of the household. the point of the program was that we need, as a society, to be encouraging men to be raising their children! we need to be promoting an entire family unit.

 

now absentee fathers are prevalent throughout all demographics. but the sad truth is that statistically, as of 2012, black families are more than 2.5 times more likely to have no father in the home as white families. that's not racism, that's just statistics. (hispanics nearly twice as likely). and yet here's the rub...

 

it's usually the liberal media (and its followers) who play the race card... they blame it on profiling, on racism, on bigotry, on anything and everything they can. 

it's also the liberal media that promotes the concept that women don't need husbands to help raise children.

they also promote the crazy lie that children raised in a gay household are just as healthy as children raised in a heterosexual home. 

 

and yet statistics bear out again and again that violent offenses are most often committed by people who have been raised in a fatherless home. 

 

ironically, according to fbi crime statistics, 69% of all arrests are made of.... guess what race? WHITE.

 

certainly not what the liberals would have you believe, is it? i don't know about the conviction rate, but for all the claims of racial profiling and racism leading to more black people being targeted by police, statistically it just isn't true. black individuals only make up 28% of data collected on nearly 10 million arrests.

decided my last post was just too incomplete. i was curious as to the apparent contradiction... so i looked up the prison inmate demographics.

 

i'll recap but include the additional info.

 

fatherless-ness occurs more than 2.5x as often among black families, and nearly 2x as often in hispanic families, as it does among white families.

arrests occur nearly 2.5x as often among whites as among blacks (i forget the number among hispanics)

 

that appeared contradictory given that we know that growing up in a fatherless home drastically increased the likelihood of committing crimes. so i did more digging. according to prison statistics in 2010, those who are actually convicted of crimes and imprisoned shifts the balance again... whites are arrested more often. hispanics are convicted more often, and blacks are convicted even more. 

 

everybody points at racism. really we need to be blaming the breakdown in the family unit.

I said repeatedly the racism exists in all skin colors.  What part of that make you believe that it can't be the people of all races should be held accountable?  That is my point.  Thank you.

Whites make up 72% of the population

If whites make up 72% of the population but represent 69% of the arrest then they are being arrested at a lower rate than their percentage of the population.  If Blacks make up 28% of the rests but only make up about 14% of the population then they are being arrested at twice the rate of their population.  That is not liberal media bias, that is people who understand mathematics stating facts.

In a world of Google where you can always find an example to support whatever you want to believe, you are going back 2 1/2 years to find an example which suggest to me that whites are not undergoing a bombardment of suspected hate crimes.  Sure this does appear to be suppressing a potentially racially charged issue but it does not mean that racism is one sided.  If what you are saying is that racism favors others ethnicities over whites that is a completely different statement than saying it only goes in one direction.  Whether or not it is slanted against whites is something worth debating that you and I probably don't agree on but is always good discussion.  Regarding the article.  There really doesn't seem to be evidence that this is anything other than an assault.  There isn't any evidence of racial motivation so I don't see how it would be prosecuted as a hate crime.  However, yeah, I agree it does look like the news suppressed it because it was black on white.
