Hi everyone, I'm Nighthawk, and this is my first post.

After spending quite a bit of time reading (and enjoying) all of

your posts in this thread, I believe I've found a strong fellowship

of mature and loving Christian brothers and sisters.

I look forward to mdulin2004's reply to the excellent discussion that she

began here.

While every poster had very good points, and something to either teach

or remind the others of, the comment that touched a chord with me perhaps

more than any other, came from Yod:

We have far too many seeking high positions instead of low ones.

I'm very happy to have found you all, and look forward to reading more

of your comments on the rest of the board.

Hawk

Bible teaches, that local congregation leading elders, which are leaders and shepherds of the congregation. God has regulated in His word, that group of men together lead one congregation of the God with one locality. In the division, there is many different denomination, which lead generally one man, who has as his assistance of elders! Leader disease is most common reason of the division. This kind of will that somebody alone lead the congregation and its teaching is seed that division spread more and more. The person often also as believer wants to control other people and to lead alone his own party. This kind of will for leading alone is carnally and sin before God, because Bible teaches, that local congregation is leading together group of men, elders and not one man.

In the flesh of the man lives also spirit of division, which wants to stand out from the other people, generally on this motive; person want to be better than another or he want to be more correct on his doctrine as another. Is the reason of the division whatever, so it is always carnally and sin before God. Only such disintegration is acceptable, where is clear heresy, and for the sake of that we must recede separation of these, which teach clear heresy.

Who are the apostles today?

If you follow the apostolic succession from the apostle's to today, you'll find the Bishops of the Catholic Church.

But there is nothing in the Bible at all concerning "apostolic succession." And your first reply would seem to imply that there are no longer any apostles.

PetriFB-forgive me, but I'm lost as to why you quoted me, and then posted what you did. Am I missing something? Obviously it was intended to respond to my post, but how?

The main problem I see is that some churches are moving away from literal biblical teachings in the name of being politically correct. Heaven forbid the truth treads on toes ( and I am talking about all of us here folks) Most ministries are trying but failing to correctly teach what the Bible says because things like the ACLU and others threaten them with lawsuits for condemming a lifestyle or maybe preaching that all are sinners things like that. Folks the bible was given to us for a reason. Its the inspired Word of God. Its not a touchy feely feel good gospel its a lifesaving (eternal lifesaving) tool for which we are to live by. Yet the majority of us fail even though we try hard. Thank God for Jesus. Even if we fail He is there for us standing up for our sins and taking them on himself for those of us who profess Him.

Evaluation of Church Government:

In evaluating the three forms of church government, the episcopal form is based partly on the authority of the apostles, which really does not have a counterpart in the New Testament church beyond the apostolic era. Christ had given a unique authority to the Twelve (Luke 9:1) that cannot be claimed by any person or group, nor is there a biblical basis for any form of apostolic succession. The authority Jesus gave to Peter (Matt. 16:18, 19) was given to all the apostles (Matt. 18:18; John 20:23) but no successive group. The episcopal form of church government can be seen in the second century but not the first. Adherents: Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Episcopal, Lutheran, Methodist. Authority: Bishops

The presbyterian form of church government has strong support for it's view of the plurality of the elders; there are many New Testament examples. The New Testament, however, reveals no organization beyond the local church. Adherents: Presbyterian, Reformed. Authority: Elders

The congregational form of church government finds biblical support for all the people being involved in the decision-making of the church. Adherents: Congregational, Baptist, Mennonite, Evangelical Free. Authority: Congregation

It can safely be said that elements of both the presbyterian and congregational forms of church government find support in Scripture. :emot-hug:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
