There's been a long history in the US and Canada about these kind of disputes to the point where it becomes a human rights issue. These issues are starting to get a bit more coverage in some media, and they are gaining traction among activist groups as well. 2015 is going to be a big year for protesting one thing or another.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.  As native americans well know, promises from the federal govt are not to be trusted.

I hear some tribes might withdraw from the treaties that were signed, the reasoning being they consider them to have not been followed/violated.

The Federal Government has violated every treaty they made with the Chickasaw and Choctaw and Cherokee tribes, and I would imagine most likely all the others.
