I joined this new church and its the bomb. The pastor takes great interest in my issues and has told me he would like to mentor me into preaching / teaching within the church. he also has told his son in laws and associates alot about me and his plans. since then these guys have invited me places to eat and hang out, but i feel like its all for political reasons - to please the pastor.

I tested the waters and asked some pretty general questions that i knew the answers to, but wanted to see if they'd tell me the truth on. Of course they flattered me and told me what they thought I wanted to hear.

One invited me to dinner and told me he'd call me - but he 'forgot' to call me up but managed to call his other dinner guests.

One other one, he owns a autopart wherehouse and I call him up for advice or to see if he has a good trustworthy mechanic. He tells me he'll call his friend and he 'll call me in the morning. He never called so I call his office but - you guessed it - he is screening my calls. But in church they all smile at me but avoid talking with me at all cost. the pastor tells me openly that he's got my back and loves me like a son - these guys have been working in the church for 5 years and in business with him for equal amount of time so i dont know why they'd hate on me..so im thinking i should just NOT be involved with them at all..but im a direct person. should i directly call them on being fake and ask them why? what reasons do you think they are acting like that?

Under these circumstances I would first pray for guidance. If then you are not given to any revalations I would ask each of them "why now are you so distant?".

That was great advice, Danny. Can't do any better than that. Acting rashly and impulsively is rarely a good idea. Waiting for God's counsel and always remembering His presence with us when we speak/deal with others is the right way to handle any situation.

You might also just ask the Pastor in terms like these: "It seems to me recently that these guys are sort of cold toward me? I could be reading it wrong, but do you know of anything I might have done to cause an offense to them? I think it is important that we work together well, and I'd like to know If I've done anything wrong."

There is something definitely wrong with this picture.Obviously, important facts have been left out.The fact that you state that you don't trust Christians and the fact that you call a new church a "bomb" doesn't increase my confidence in your report. It looks like your minister is some kind of an angel and all your problems are with a couple other people in the church. If the problem is that simple, why mess around with them? Why bother to find out what there problem is?You're not going to church to meet people. You're going to worship God.The quality of the church members isn't important if the church is filled with the Holy Spirit and you like the quality of the minister. If you have a negitive response to either of those requirements, then its time to look for another church. But don't get bent out of shape by the people you meet at church.A good church attracts sinners who need spiritual healing so don't judge the quality of a church by its congregation and even more importantly DO NOT JUDGE JESUS BY HUMANS WHO CLAIM TO BE CHRISTIANS.Most Christians are not.

Counselor: In some recent slang 'a bomb' is a GOOD THING. Sheesh! I'm dating myself by admitting I found that confusing too; my daughter had to tell me: "Oh dad; your so hopeless! 'Bomb' means really cool!!"

The pastor over at this church saved my married so to speak. he came with the word of god and had my wife saved and brought me back from backsliding. so i turned AWAY from my old friends that were in the 'world' . so with him he's excited about me really taking to god so well and wants me to teach at his church in a lil class or what not. in the mean time all his lil in laws and such have approached me to meet me due to him talking about me alot off line from church. I'm a Sgt in the army and have a chance to go on to re up and move out of state. he told me he was going to bring me into his contracting business and i should get out..which his inlaws / family are also involved in. so with them telling me one thing and doing another with dinner, working on my car and all how can i trust this man or his people with my future or familys stability? I want to do God's will not mans - but it s difficult when your spiritual leader is the one confusing you and his people are flakes. i've directly brought my issues to him and he tells me the same charming thing about me making 6 digits a year with him and everything is fine. but nothing is in writing and nothing is concrete. i want to serve god, but my problem all my walk with god has been fellowshiping, and this is the reason why. people try and force relationships on you due to being in church and ignore the world, but the people in church sometimes are sorrier than 'sinners'!

like i said before im military and i have simple stupid processes in which i make decisions.

SMALL things can show the true nature of BIG things.

doesnt the bible warn against flatterers and sweet talkers?

I tried to give the beniefit of the doubt the first time , however after that NO one spoke to me again. no one looks me in the eye anymore.

the second time the lil dinner was near my house but yet everyone else (my sister in law especially) was called , but for some reason my family wasnt..and i was the one helping them with the phone number list in the first place! so in the mean time i decided to keep to myself because i feel like im dealing with car sales men. in the mean time my wife is still holding on to the belief that i should go into business with them and get out of the army..but the army is concreate and feeds us..i cant go and count on a big situation like employment if i cant even have a meal as promised! what should i do?? I've asked my wife to talk to the pastor about his plans since he seems to be feeding me the same thing over again with no sign of proof..she is 'scared' to speak to him so im stuck.

maybe its just an attack from the devil so ill stop going to church again..

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
