But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. Mat 13:58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. Relating it to real life. It's like some who maybe knew you from young may quench you not realising that you have changed and are changing. I find a similarity that way among others. John 9 is a salvation story in type. He was blind and was made to see and sent to wash in the pool. It's a great story but the verse I like the most, after being put out by the religious leaders and even family not seeming to take a stand with him, vs. 35: Jesus heard that they had put him out;"and finding him",.............. No matter what quenching or doubting from others, or friends not wanting to recognize you, Jesus will find you. He will lift you up and restore you. We serve a gracious and loving God who understands our weaknesses and trials.

Generally your immediate family and relatives will refuse to accept that God has worked in your life, and is continuing to do so, and given you certain spiritual gifts and ministries. Therefore the more effective ministry is to total strangers, who evaluate what you share from the Bible, not who you were in the past or your family connections. I try to think about verses like Matthew 10:14. But it's difficult and often interpreted by others as unforgiveness, which I don't believe it is in my case although I can see how it could be for someone else.
