We had a friend who was not a totally committed Christian.  He had resisted getting baptized after he had believed saying that he had been baptized as an infant.  We took him to an evangelical meeting.  The pastor said it is OK to be sprinkled.  We will put you in a shower and fill it till it is higher than your head and you will be immersed by sprinkling.  He had been sinking in his chair trying to duck the Holy Spirit but started laughing so hard that he surrendered;  he was baptized in his church a few weeks later.  God called him to work with Gideons Int. and he became a regional director for many years.

Perhaps baptism is for those who have surrendered to Jesus as Lord, and who no longer contend with Him.
