Okay... I have been really struggling with this issue for a long time now. Through a series of trials, I have been trying to pursue God's will for my life, but I seem to be going around in circles. What am I doing wrong?

Greetings P.O.E.

Have you read the book of Job? I suspect your trials do not compare with his. I know my current trials are not. Trials produce perseverance and perseverance produces faith and faith produces hope - I think that is the way it goes, so just rejoice that God thinks enough of you to get rid of the dross and make you into a fine vessel in which He can find habitation.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

Be Still and Listen

By Darryl (Bloodbought)

Dear Lord in heaven,

hear me this day.

what is your will for me?

This I humbly pray.

Is it to feed the hungry,

clothe the bare?

To visit the sick

and those in despair?

To be a light

for the blind to see?

Or to help break the bonds,

and set the captives free?

To comfort the widows,

and the fatherless too?

I ask thee dear Lord,

"What am I to do?"

To wipe the tears

from a loved one's face?

Or help the homeless

to find their place?

To lend a hand

to my brother in need?

To share the Gospel?

To plant the seed?

"What is your will?"

"What am I missing?"

Then a voice from heaven,

"Be still and listen."

"Why trouble your heart?"

"Your faith is not dead."

"My will for you,

you've already said."

That's a good word, bloodbought!

I also caught your sig line. Very appropriate!

Ask not what the LORD can do for you but ask what can you do for the LORD.

Hey, Pictures!

Have you considered that you just might be asking the wrong question?

I mean, "God's will for my life" is very broad.

In Scripture, it states that God's will for every man's life is to be saved.

Likewise, Jesus' last command to His disciples was to go out and make more disciples.

Now, if you are looking for God's will as some final goal for a career or ministry, chances are best this revelation will not be dropped on your lap. I know how frustrating thi scan be. I prayed for years for direction in my own life and got nowhere.

Quite often, or should I say, most often, we are directed as we move. People who do great things for the Kingdom of God do those things out of just what they happen to be doing.

If your question is about what ministry or what career you should pursue, it is best to look at the here and now rather than the end result.

As for ministry, are you prone to evangelism? counselling? teaching?

Is there a group of people your heart is drawn towards? Youth? Pregnancy homes for women who chose not to abort but need help? world missions?

Is there a ministry your church is involved in that you can help out with?

Or, as bloodbought mentioned, just ministering to those next to you is pleasing unto the Lord!

As for career, find what you are good at and where your talents lie, and see if you can work towards something that fits, even if it means returning to school.

For me, where I belonged as a career I was not ready for for many years, just due to my having a severe emotional instability condition. When that had been dealt with enough, my direction became more clear and I was able to take the beginning steps to head in that direction. But those years before were indeed stressful and painful (in terms of seeking direction). I realize now that there was nothing I could have done during those times to "have God's will revealed." I had to be in the position to be willing to receive what that direction indeed was. I never could have done this 10 years ago!

So, basically, just keep seeking to build your relationship with the Lord and develop fruit (godly character) in your life and minister in whatever little way you can to whomever you come in contact with and maybe be a part of some ministry around you. My experience tells me that none of this will be a diversion from where you need to be, and chances are it may help lead you to where you need to be heading.

OK?

Proverbs: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths."

In other words, once you've done these things, do whatever you want, because HE IS DIRECTING YOUR PATHS.

I can't say I agree with the above highlited portion. We are to seek His Kingdom and His Righteousness, then will we receive what we need. A Christian needs to know the "Word of God" and only then can they have any assurance when the "spirit" speaks to them. We are to "test the spirits to see if they are of God". We can't do this unless we KNOW the Word of God.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

Trust in Him. If you are doing something wrong, God will show you. If you are not, there is a purpose for your actual situation. Stay in close fellowship with Him and know that God is in control. Rest in Him.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
