Do we need Easter?

Easter and Christmas seem to be the big rushes for the church. During this time pageants are performed, messages prepared, and extra seating provided. Things which are usually taboo in Christian culture are declared a must during these two holiday seasons. Sunday school is cancelled and service time is moved, two things which are considered sacred amongst Christians. I must ask myself why these two things, the birth of Christ and the death of Christ, are so revered but once a year.

I am against neither Easter services nor Christmas services. I am not against the celebration of the death and more importantly resurrection of Christ. I just find it somewhat odd that we treat this one day a year with such promenade. For instance, for the rest of the year dressing nice for church may include pants, a dress shirt, and sometimes a tie. Other churches can get away with wearing dress pants and a polo. Yet on Easter Sunday every man is in his suit and every woman in her dress celebrating the death and resurrection of Christ. On top of that, people who we have never seen before somehow make an appearance in the church, mostly feeling quite awkward the entire time. It is basic knowledge to most Christians that without the death and resurrection of Christ (the reason for Easter) there would be no reason to celebrate. So why do we treat this with such reverence but once a year? I am not suggesting that we wear our Easter clothes to church every Sunday, instead I am suggesting a paradigm shift.

We celebrate His birth and revere His resurrection, but what do we do with His life? Is not the ultimate celebration of Christ

Christmas and Easter are part of the liturgical year. Christmas is the beginning of Christianity, where Easter is the fulfillment of our salvation in Jesus Christ.

Well I agree that these things should be be in our heart throughout the year, the events of Christmas and Easter, bring's our hearts into the season of the event, and it is a point of reflection and mediation, that enriches our lives.

We don't need to hear music to have a song in our hearts, but how much better is life with music in our lives?

The Christian holidays are the music of our faith, which enriches our faith.

Rejoice in it, because it is the glory of God, that is celebrated.

Does it make more sense to celebreate His life, which validates and gives the importance to His death and ressurection (for if He were not perfect these two things would not matter) on a daily basis or to set aside one day of celebration to His death and ressurection?

I don't know where you go to church b, but my church worships to the lord 100% every sunday aned is active in alpha course, bible study , and fellowship all through the week.

I see a lot of the same people every day on this message board giving glory to God.What more do you want?
