Paul had physical problems due to the fact that he was stoned and left for dead, he was flogged and beaten and to be honest, he was not impressive to look at. Paul was scarred and scabbed and the stoning would have left him with permanent physical head trauma kind of like what some people have when they have been in bad car accident and received damage from hitting their head on the window or the dashboard or windshield. When they stoned someone the first stone was about 60-70 lbs and a person was thrown to the ground and first stone was supposed to kill you by crushing your head. If someone is beaten with a whip, stoned, burned, etc, for the Gospel's Sake in Jesus, they also bear in their bodies the marks/ scars for the Gospel, for the Master Jesus in their body.
