I have had this debate with a friend of mine.. concerning who will go to hell. He believes that ANYONE who does not know Jesus as their personal Saviour will go to hell, even those who never heard the Gospel. (He does think there may be some exception for young children)

I have a real problem accepting that God would send people to hell who never had the chance to hear the Gospel.

But, if you say that ignorance is a defense, where do you draw the line??????

It's a puzzling dilemma.

Since God isn't using Paradice any more, maybe all the never heard ofs will go there

Is the age of accountability 12?(barmitzpha)?

Jesus is the only way to heaven and rejecting Him is the only way to hell.

People assume that sin sends you there, no it helps you to get there but ultimately it's rejecting Christ.

When ever somebody ask the question what if people died without hearing the message of Christ, a lot of the information that was stated in the previous replies is accurate.

In Genesis when the whole world spoke one tongue and one language and everybody was trying to do things their own way without God, He scattered them abroad on the face of the Earth after he confused their language.

THis tells us that people knew who God is and always have. They rebelled against Him for thousands of years and worhsiped the creature rather than the creator. But that doesn't mean that these people didn't know who God is. THey had to know who they were rebelling against to rebel in the first place.

Keep in mind also how people spread all over the Earth. THey started in the Garden of Eden and went out from their. SO people carried a conscious of God with them, rather they accepted it or rejected it is not the key. They knew their was GOd to reject or accept. THey knew.

God said that the new covenant will be written upon the hearts of man. THe world was almost completely saturated by European CHristians during the age of Discovery. This means that the gospel has reached almost every part of this Earth.

The rocks cry out, all of creation reflects His glory; the whole point is, if there was not one person on this Earth to tell the world who God is, the bottom line is that God will still make Himself known to all those people who didn't know He existed or didn't believe in Him.

God doesn't need people to tell the truth about Himself.

All of this does tie into who goes to heaven and to hell. Jesus is the way to God rejecting Him is the way to damnation. IF a person died without ever hearing the gospel truth from another man (christian in particular) the bottom line is that God already has that avenue covered. What makes you think He would let man create a loophole to allow us to escape His truth?

I honestly believe that if the rocks cry out about God and creation reflects God's glory, then why wouldn't it speak about Christ Jesus His son? Then if a person acknowleges God from these non human testimonies, why couldn't God use these to eventually point that person to His son Jesus Christ?

I can't fully explain it all, I just know God being who He is, is not stupid or dumb enough to allow mankind to try and trick Him and look for loopholes to get into heaven. Honestly it can't be done that way, if so, then God lied to us all.

Man, this is a pretty scary God!!!!! I thought the gospel was supposed to be the Good News! This sounds like very Bad News indeed!

I dunno who goes to hell.  *shrug*  If you follow Jesus and you try to do your best, I think God realizes that.  :(

???:(

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Well then you should try reading the Scriptures. The Bible says that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ. (Rom.6:23)

The Bible is very clear, and this is so basic. Those who reject Christ, and His finished work on the Cross will end up spending eternity separated from God.

Following Jesus and doing your best is not what God demands. There are New Agers that "follow" Jesus. Doing your best is works, and Salvation is based upon grace through faith apart from works.

Only those who have received Christ into their hearts by faith, will be allowed into the Kingdom of God.

He was trying to say that invoking fear and hoping to get souls saved does not necessarily work.

You know, preaching death has opposed to salvation.

Dear David,

The word fear is used 385 times in the Bible......there's a very vital reason for it.

Psalm 2:11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

Psalm 19:9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

THE PROCESS OF WISDOM AND FEAR OF THE LORD

Proverbs 3:7

Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. 8 It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.

8:12

"I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And find out knowledge and discretion. 13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate.

23:17

Do not let your heart envy sinners, But be zealous for the fear of the Lord all the day; 18 For surely there is a hereafter, And your hope will not be cut off.

BOTTOM LINE

16:6

In mercy and truth Atonement is provided for iniquity; And by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil.

In His Truth,

Suzanne

WSB, I don't see how this can be true (your statement that EVERYONE has a chance to know Jesus as personal Saviour).

What about all the people outside of Jerusalem the day after the Resurrection of Jesus? If they died that day would all those people go to hell? Or did God send angels to all of them??

I'm not being sarcastic; I just find it hard to believe that everyone in the world, except those in Jerusalem and its "suburbs", who died before the Gospel reached them, ALL went to hell.

What do you make of these verses?....

Jhn 9:41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

Luk 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

1Ti 1:12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;

1Ti 1:13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did [it] ignorantly in unbelief.

Peace of Christ,

Fiosh

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
