My thoughts are that you are right.

However, in our daily life there are only two choices that we can make: We can choose the Tree of Life, or we can choose the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (shortened: TOL & TOK). The TOL is just God in Christ Jesus as our life and our life supply. The TOK is just the knowlede og the world and of worldly things. But the TOK is not just representative of all the negative things of the world, which is where many believers get stuck. You see, even the good things of the world, because they are apart from Christ, are a part of the TOK. In fact, anything that ia apart from Christ, period, is part of the TOK.

So in your daily life - in your living from day-to-day - are you taking Christ as life, or are you acting according to the TOK? Is it possible to do something good that is apart from Christ? I believe so. Because the unregenerated people of the world are doing many good things, are they not? But these things are apart from Christ, therefore they are not of Christ, they are of the world.

Therefore, can you dress modestly, act patiently, present yourself as a righteous man, and still be acting, thinking, living, and moving as part of the world? Absolutely. Because if you are not taking Christ as your life and your life supply (represented by the fruit of the TOL), then you are taking from another source. And since there are only two sources in the world.....

Get my meaning?

Ovedya,

I do believe that I understand what you are saying. For example, a friend of mine is not a Christian but believes he will not go to hell because he is a good person. The fact is he is a very good person. He is kind, generous, thoughtful, and really has a lot of personal characteristics that we see in most Christians. However, from what I understand you are saying is that he is eating from the TOK and not the TOL. Believing that he is a good person and will not go to hell is just one of the many lies that will keep him from accepting Jesus as his savior.

I feel the TOK can cloud our thinking when it comes to our strive to be like Christ. I guess that is what I mean by the lies of the world

ITA with your post and that we should always be aware of why we are doing anything and who we are pleasing. It can be a fine line sometimes. I also would caution about going the other extreme. There was a family in our church and the mother took much pride in that she didn't buy "stylish" clothing for her children etc. They wore very, very aged clothes, and they wore the pants until they were too tight in the waist, no matter that they were six inches above their shoes. She bought shoes at the Dollar General because it was a "sin" to buy Nikes just to "fit in". The result was that her children were mocked and mercilessly made fun of, beat up on the way home from school etc. Not only because of the way they were made to dress, but they were raised in a hideously legalistic atmosphere that made them stand out also. I always felt so sorry for them, they had it rough. And the oldest boy now lives with his male lover, btw. :(

I'm not excusing the mean kids who were cruel to them, but you don't make children stand out that way, under the guise of "not being of the world", it's just cruel. There is nothing wrong with buying them clothes that fit in with everyone else because it's the "style" for the time period. JMHO again.

Sounds like God is really speaking to you and you're not just playing at faith. That is awesome. I agree with what you're saying. The other poster is right about legalism. It can be really ugly and wrong if we get crazy about things and become insensitive to people. We become as sounding brass (I Corinthans 13:1). Not that I'm concerned that you're heading in that direction. I have seen it though. Follow God as best you can and keep reading the Bible. Be a part of a good church.

You have to be careful, imo, because the enemy loves nothing more than to try and trip us up. If he can't get us to fall in a temptation, he may go the other route and try to make us trip up by our becoming rigid and legalistic. For instance, when I started back walking with the Lord about 4 years ago, I become so rigid to the point I wouldn't listen to any secular music save Christmas music. I would shun ANYTHING that wasn't totally gospel. Even though those songs I wasn't listening to that I previously had listened to weren't conveying a bad message, I wouldn't listen to them. The thought came to me that there was no difference in a good song and a good piece of poetry-they're both the same thing in essence. Satan will try to trip you up one way or another, so be aware of his devices!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
