My son in law worked on the software and camera systems on many of the programs at NASA.  They are NOT paintings.  Just because you 'heard' something doesn't mean it's true.  And how many asteroids do you know that you can say this one looks fake?

Its ok sis.

It looks enhanced and has that unrealistic look - my eldest son did computer graphics in senior high school and it looks like something he would have produced back then, 7 years ago.

Well you are right to a certain extent, HF.  Sometimes the images do have to be enhanced, 'cleaned up' so to speak, but NASA does post the raw photos as well.  IMO, the 'skull shape' would appear from a certain angle but, most likely, if you viewed that rock from the other side it would look totally different.  Like the 'face on Mars' thing,

Yes, I go along with that.

Now if only we saw an asteroid that looked like a cheeseburger! :D

No planets (not even flat ones) or cows were  hurt in the making of this picture.

However, if you look carefully, and use your imagination, you you can almost see  what looks like a square of cheese, on top of that 'patty'. That slice is from a real asteroid. Additionally, although no cow was injured making this image, one was (coincidentally) killed, making the burger patty that this fake asteroid image was derived from. Fortunately, the cow was likely delicious.

After making this image, I needed to name the file, and I recalled that in my former neighborhood, there was a place called Astro Burger.

Here's a link to 13 years of raw images.  Take your pick.

All of your images have this Blurb next to it:

"The camera was pointing toward SATURN, and the image was taken using the CB2 and CL2 filters. This image has not been validated or calibrated. A validated/calibrated image will be archived with the NASA Planetary Data System."

I need "Validated" images and their Source Files...?  It makes little sense to Invalidate Non-Validated images.

They are not MY images.   If you need validated images, when you said you wanted raw ones, then Google them.
