More like the wild west, a military boarding school, or something in between?

Since I'm brand new here, I'm wondering how you would describe this forum?

I've participated a bit in two other forums. One is a bit like the "wild west". There are a wide range of views and "types of Christians". They do have some important standards, but even those are not tightly enforced. The other is a lot more "tight". The range of views is much more narrow.

I'm definitely NOT looking for criticisms of this forum, just for general characterizations. Is ok to ask this?

I wouldn't say it is the wild west for sure, although there are many different beliefs expressed, the forum is well moderated.

That sounds hopeful. Many different beliefs, but well moderated. Thanks!

Would you say that the average member is more academic or less so?

Do most members who comment seem to have good biblical knowledge, or are there many relatively new believers?

Are most relatively theologically conservative or liberal?

Or perhaps there is a wide range, as indicated by wingnut's reply, "many beliefs"?

This forum is great. However, I do like the Chat better than the forums. Chat has a more lighthearted atmosphere. While if you want to ask a real deep question... some of them may be best asked on the forums.

Thanks! I'm glad to hear that. It sounds like people come here for a range of reasons. That's good. At least imho.

I would say many are well educated.

I would say most regulars have good biblical knowledge, not necessarily everyone who comments does though.  It also depends on the forum area, outer court is accessible to non-believers so you get a wide variety of comments there.  Yes there are many new believers as well.

I would say most of the regulars are theologically conservative.

What I mean by many beliefs, is in regards to certain doctrinal issues.  If you have not done so, you may want to familiarize yourself with the ToS and SoF located at the bottom of the forum page for the site.  While there is some latitude for those who are asking sincere questions, there is also a standard the site adheres to.  Enjoy.

God bless

Thanks, looking at the ToS and SoF, and also you're brief answers, I feel it is likely I will fit in well here. I hope and pray that I will be a blessing to others!

Hi, Like much of life it is what one makes of it. It may be a most pleasant place. Fortunately it is a place of rules that seem to be adhered to with the assistance of many participants.

I suspect I am often  of a distinct minority view, yet I seem to be well tolerated. Course I do utilize a feature called ignore rather generously  too.

Welcome.
