Exactly where  is this   " written " ?

I did a OT search for this quote and was surprised when it  came up with nothing .

Is Paul quoting exactly as it is " written "   ?

I always like to look at the larger context of a single sentence just for my own clarification .

For what it’s worth.......long , long time ago I remember J.Vernon McGee opining on this.He said God hated Esau because in his lineage  was Herod the Great who slaughtered the children under the age of two in Bethlehem.....interesting, if nothing else......

Wonderful man of God J.Vernon was , and you brought to mind something else I heard him say on this business of hating Esau .

He said , " I don't have  as hard time understanding why God hated Esau , as I do understanding why He loved Jacob ."

Implication being that Jacob was not a very lovely fellow at all himself , and that the answer to both questions really lies within the mind and purpose of God .

Fascinating reading all this.

I see the 'Sons of God' as His High Council. (see Ps 82). His Council of Archons that disobeyed. They continue in messing up the various nation of the earth that Yahweh gave them authority over. A chief among them seems to be HaSatan. This 'son' was also present with the 'other sons of God' in Job. Job also tells us that Yahweh now distrusted his council members.

So, I desire to make a model airplane. From my experience I see it in my mind - I know it will fly from experience. In my mind it is flying even. But I have yet to physically make it. If I can do this in my mind, surely the Lord High God can do this also.

Before the flood there was less water on our planet. These land bridges facilitated much of the spreading of artifacts that are discovered today. No Panajea.

Take the simple and most straightforward understanding of scripture before it is complicated with 'dispensations', 'ages' and man's many ideas.

But Paul say   " it is written "   ?

Anytime I have seen this statement in scripture it clearly indicates the speaker is referring to something " written "   prior , and they are just repeating it .

Do you know what I mean ?

I've cited this Bible verse, as it is, and yes I also think, Paul is referring to something written prior...

Regards,

Thomas

Dear Unfailing Presence,

Oh I didn't get your point. Now I understand: you were aiming at the *original* passage, Paul is quoting from.

My Bible at home says this was Malachi 1:2-3 (KJV)

Was not Esau Jacob' brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,
3 And I hated Esau,

Got it . Thank You .

And this is why I like to look into these things .

I have read the passage and I see nothing that refers to the womb 0r before birth .

Nothing .

It only speaks of his forsaken " heritage "  as being a source of God's displeasure  .

                                           "  Was not Esau Jacob's brother ?

Saith the Lord yet I have loved Jacob .

And I hated Esau and laid his mountains and his HERITAGE waste for the dragons of the wilderness ."                                                                                                                                                           ( Malachi 1 : 1-3 )
