I was reminded of this study last night as I came across this passage:

Proverbs 14:34

Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people.

I am realizing that in this particular day and time, that we are void of righteousness, and I am distraught. I long to see distinctions again. I thirst and hunger for it, and I am dying to speak of it! Please afford me the opportunity to do so, as I may burst if I do not.

Do we as Christians understand and practice righteousness? What is it? Where does it begin? I want to begin with Scripture verses for that is the foundation of righteousness, it is from the Word Himself.

1 Cor. 15:34

Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

Genesis 7:1 And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.

Ge 18:23 And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?

Matt. 13:43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Mt 23:28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

Mt. 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Luke 18:9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

(the last 2 words of the above, proved what was true)

John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

Romans 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Heb. 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

Jas 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

1 Peter 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

1 Peter 4:8 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

2Pe 2:8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

1 John 2:29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

1Jo 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

I was trying to find which verse to take the study of the word righteous from.

It is this one:

1Jo 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous , even as he is righteous.

For we are on the verge of being deceived about righteousness, if it has not already happened. We are not embracing it, because we have been deceived into confusing righteousness with "self-righteousness". There is a difference.

righteous:

righteous, observing divine laws

in a wide sense, upright, righteous, virtuous, keeping the commands of God

of those who seem to themselves to be righteous, who pride themselves to be righteous, who pride themselves in their virtues, whether real or imagined

innocent, faultless, guiltless

used of him whose way of thinking, feeling, and acting is wholly conformed to the will of God, and who therefore needs no rectification in the heart or life 1a

This is the definition that we have lost.

Any comments here?

Just to start with.

In His Love,

Suzanne

Hebrews 5:13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.

What do we know about righteousness today? Is the church teaching on it? Or only on the elementary teachings of Christ? (Heb. 6:1)

Here are some things that were defined in study this morning: Do we REALLY understand what took place at the cross in regard to righteousness?

Comparisons: Adam and Christ

Romans 5

Adam

12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned--

15 But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man's offense many died..............

16 And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation................

17 For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one................

Christ

15.....................much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.

16...................but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification.

17..................much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)

The cruxt of the issue!

Romans 5:18 Therefore, as through one man's offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man's righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous.

1 Peter 2:24

24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed.

Instruction on Righteousness

Romans 6:6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin.

12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 19 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness. 20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Righteous starts in the heart. The desire to do good. Knowing what's right and what's wrong. As children we were taught by our parents that certain things were good while others were bad. As adults, if we seek righteousness we still need direction and the only way to get that direction is from the Father.

Prov. 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

Prov. 3:6 In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths

Prov. 3:7 Do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and depart from evil.

James 2:19 You believe that there is one God, you do well-even the demons believe and tremble.

Ephesians 5:17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Matthew 7:21 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

It all starts with God. Without the Father you will accomplish nothing.

If you lack understanding, go to Him and ask for direction. He knows your level of faith and will instruct you accordingly. Don't ever worry about becoming a nuisance to Him. Go to him in faith and He will show you things that most people only read about.

It's all about faith.

Abraham's faith and reward:

Genesis 18:17 And the Lord said, "Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, 18 since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? 19 For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him."

David:

1 King 3:6 And Solomon said: "You have shown great mercy to Your servant David my father, because he walked before You in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You; You have continued this great kindness for him, and You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

Job:

Job 33:26 He shall pray to God, and He will delight in him, He shall see His face with joy, For He restores to man His righteousness.

Job 36:3 I will fetch my knowledge from afar; I will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

Us:

Psalm 9:4 For You have maintained my right and my cause; You sat on the throne judging in righteousness.

Ps 9:8 He shall judge the world in righteousness, And He shall administer judgment for the peoples in uprightness.

Ps 11:7

For the Lord is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright.

Ps 15:2

He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart;

Psalm 23:3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake.

Ps 24:5 He shall receive blessing from the Lord, And righteousness from the God of his salvation

Psalm 119:42 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, And Your law is truth.

Proverbs 15:9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, But He loves him who follows righteousness.

Proverbs 21:3 To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.

Pr 21:21 He who follows righteousness and mercy Finds life, righteousness and honor.

Psalm 40:9 I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness In the great assembly; Indeed, I do not restrain my lips, O Lord, You Yourself know.

Dear Brian,

My heart so yearns for that as well. We mourn because of our longing for Truth. I am comforted when I know I am not alone.

Psalm 37

1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. 2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. 3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. 4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. 6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. 8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. 9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. 10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. 11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. 12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. 13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming. 14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation. 15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken. 16 A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. 17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous. 18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. 19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. 20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

21 The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth. 22 For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off. 23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. 24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand. 25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. 26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed. 27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore. 28 For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. 29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever. 30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment. 31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide. 32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him. 33 The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

34 Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it. 35 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. 36 Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found. 37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace. 38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off. 39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble. 40 And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

How many more ways can His Word say it, stranger??? There WILL be judgment and distinctions made.

In His Love,

Suzanne

Romans 6:13

Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin:but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

If I could try to expound on this one verse the way a friend of mine did.

"Has alive from the dead"

We should should step in front of God with separation.

We should be different from un-saved souls.

We need to hold separation in our hearts and minds.

We need to show the diff" between a saved and an un-saved soul.

"Even so now present your members as servants to righteousness unto sanctification"

Our body all it's parts should also be found righteous, and has instruments of righteousness.

Fornication.

Fetishes.

Un-natural sexual desires.

Homosexual acts.

A earing, a tatoo, excessive drinking and anything that abuses your body makes you to be found in wanting of righteousness and in direct conflict with the commands of God.

After you are saved.

I hope this is in some way related to the study.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
