Reverence and Fear for Our Holy God is Lacking Today

Hello saints:

Man is common and God is most assuredly not common!

We cannot approach any subject pertaining to the Lord on our terms common to man. Rather,we approach the Lord and his word with peity and earnest devotion. He is God.

Man wants to belittle the holiness and wrath of God  because man has forgotten that God is HOLY above all else. God is to be honored and praised with much reverence. He is GOD.

The wrath of God has been swept under the rug . Grace didnt replace wrath to those who deny Christ or to those who worship idols. Gods wrath must be understood just as much as Gods grace.

Gods wrath is just. It is just because God is HOLY.

Leviticus 10:

Among those who approach me

I will be proved holy

In the sight of all people

I will be honored.

I just listened to a sermon by RC SPROUL. He was one of the great reformation preachers who is now with the Lord .  I miss him alot but thankfully he left behind him his legacy in his sermons that demonstrate his awe and reverence for our Holy God.

The sermon is on youtube.

The title is. 'The wrath of God in preaching- Dr. R.C. Sproul'

Go listen and be blessed. How about we  discuss the various things that touched your heart . .

It's a much different world today than it was 50-60 years ago when I was growing up. I suspect this holds true in most places in the United States, and not just locally where I grew up.

Most people, even the criminals, atheists and hardcore's had a fear / reverence for God, preachers and the police; and at least bit their tongues in respect. My, my, how our enlightened tolerate society has changed since then.

You are correct. There was a time when people had sense! It makes me righteously angry to see the Lords name stomped under foot. .

Sometimes when I am on youtube watching a video I meander on down to check out some of the comments.

I cant unsee some of the vile wicked things people say about Jesus . What is sad is some of it has cut them off with the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit and nasty filthy things . I suspect those are coming from young people .  They have probably grown up in households of parents who are atheists.

The world we live in is getting darker at warp speed.

 Amen!

I love RC Sproul's preaching. Look for one on the Holiness of God by Sproul, so good! I love the biblical preaching that doesn't mince words. Give us the meat not the milk that's meant only for babies. Some believers stay babes unfortunately.

Amen sis! Ill listen to the one yoy mentioned tomorrow. Its next in line. I love his preaching too. I loved him! I didnt agree with his post millenial or baby baptism but those are non salvific issues so they certainly didnt get in the way of my listening and growibg from  his spot on preaching.

The holiness and fear of God are two subjects that many don't want hear about in the churches these days.  Everyone wants to hear about raiding the kids, finances, how to break additions, how to overcome bad habits, and so on.  Those issues have their place in pastoral counseling, but are not pulpit-worthy topics.

People need to know that God is to be feared; He is not or buddy, or just someone who is here to solve problems.   He is our most dread Sovereign and Creator, our righteous Redeemer and eternal Judge.   He allows for a degree of familiarity, but we must never forget to whom it is we are speaking.

Our chief end is to glorify God and in order to do so, we must walk in reverent fear of Him.

Yes we persuade men because it is a terrifying thing to stand in front of a HOLY GOD without Christ Righteousness on us.

Service that is well pleasing to God is with fear and reverence (Heb. 12:28).

Psalm 111:10
The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all they that do his commandments: His praise endureth for ever.

Deuteronomy 13:4
Ye shall walk after Jehovah your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.

Isaiah 6:1
In the year that king Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and his train filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. 3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is Jehovah of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. 4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, Jehovah of hosts.

Fear is a strong motivator. If we really believe that bad behavior has bad consequences... that God will punish those who remain in sin... it can (and should) humble us (like Isaiah) and move us to honestly seek God with commitment.

Fear is a starting place for wisdom.

How very true. And I might add that many of our mega churches of purpose driven / prosperity Gospel's focus strictly on "us", and how to enrich ourselves financially and false doctrines. Instead of focusing on God, His Salvation, His will, the way to Salvation, and what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross for us and why. Many want their 'ears tickled', and shun sound doctrine. Many have religion, but deny the power there of. It breaks my heart so many are being deceived by the raving wolves in sheep's clothing.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
