We are told that what also is necessary is “a coming to me (Christ) that you might receive life”. This is being a “doer of the Word”. It says it is necessary to actually go to Jesus so that He Himself would give those things that are promised and spoken about in scripture. For the purpose of scripture (the written Word of God) is to instruct one where to go to receive those things spoken in Scripture. It is to point away from itself to the Living Word of God which is Him that can give those things spoken about in scripture. It is a going to Jesus to have and to grow this fellowship with Him that we are called to. This “one and one” relationship with Him, is that that causes growth. Scriptures are like a map to a certain city. They can tell you where and how to go, but they are just instructions of where and what you are to do. They have no life in themselves, only as one is obedient to doing of what is in them will they find life. For scripture says “be doers of the Word not hearers only deceiving your own selves”. For we all have encountered and know people who know scripture upon scripture, can quote chapter and verse on most any subject, yet when you conversate or have dealing with them or you watch them as they deal with others they lack any evidence of Christ in their lives. They have no joy. The Fruits of the Spirit are lacking, and all you receive is humanity covered over with the words of scripture. But no “life”. Not to say these, are, or aren’t believers. This is what the Pharisees claim to fame was, they knew the scriptures, yet not the One the scriptures spoke of. This is what the above scripture is speaking to. Knowing what the words of scripture say does not make one a follower of Christ. It is going to Him that we might receive the life that only He can give. Scripture speaks of the stubbornness of those that have great knowledge of scripture yet are “unwilling to come to me (Christ)”. Emphasizing the fact that there are those that regardless of how much scripture(s) they know they utterly refuse to go to Christ to have that personal relationship with Him that is absolutely necessary for a believer to grow. Blessings to all that are willing to see and search out this truth for themselves. Much love in Christ, Not me 1 2 1

Heb 13:8 Posted December 1, 2018 Group: Diamond Member Followers: 2 Topic Count: 35 Topics Per Day: 0.01 Content Count: 1,533 Content Per Day: 0.56 Reputation: 382 Days Won: 1 Joined: 11/03/2016 Status: Offline Share Posted December 1, 2018 God’s Wrath Against Sinful Humanity (Romans 1) 18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. 21For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. 24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. 26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. Praise the Lord! Faith come by hearing (and studying) the word of God. Romans 10:17 The Holy Spirit will teach you if you humbly ask. I know. I asked. God is faithful . When did you surrender and turn from (change your mind) your lost ways? The angels rejoice when another is saved!

I wasnt. I feared God, read my bible, prayed and lived as good a life as I can. I repented of my sins in prayer each day. Im sorry you took offense. I didnt mean it that way. You were no worse off than I was! We are nothing without Christ. Our righteousness is THROUGH CHRIST. When God calls us none are righteous no not even one. Romans 3:10. Our sin separates us from Christ. Scripture states we come humbly with a contrite heart. A contrite heart means we are broken from our sins against a Holy Sovereign Lord. We make up our mind to follow Christ and trust Christ to make us a new creation in Christ to give us the mind of Christ through his word. We trust that we need tge potter because we are merely the pot Edited December 2, 2018 by 1sheep

This is so true. God is just so awesome in that way. We can read the same scripture a dozen times, and we just understand it according to what the words say. But when God, “as it were” turns the light on. We see in such a deeper way. Blessings, that we could understand all scripture that way. Tit 3:3-8 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. 4But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. 8This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone. But still more, it is a continual “going to God” that that is what the heart of God is after. Even after one is saved, to continue to “go the God”. “Turn to me and I will turn to you” is a continual process. To the degree one “turns to God, is to the degree God “turns to them”. Would to God that we His body would turn to Him with all our strength, soul, mind, hearts, our very “selfs”. So the statement “all of Him and nothing of us” would be a true and living one in each of our hearts and lives.
