I think Americans need to start arming themselves again. I have had an unyielding urge to buy some firearms myself. I am wanting to get 2 .45's a pump action shotgun and a rifle.

Well, that is where we in the UK differ from you Americans somewhat, Justin, having not been brought up in a gun culture ourselves.

Having seen what guns actually do to people, I am somewhat reluctant to endorse the widespread practice of gun ownership, although I do realize that America is a whole different ball-game than the UK, where the right to bear arms, and self-defence, are an inalienable right.

I just think, for the most part, that the more guns there are in society, the more that these firearms will fall into the wrong hands - criminal elements within society.

And my concerns DO seem to be borne out by the amount of gun crime in relation to the number of firearms in society.

As I said elsewhere, on another thread, I think that firearms should be limited to the law enforcement members, and the military, and eradicated elsewhere. I know that this won't go down well with the large number of American free citizens who see gun ownership as their right......but we in England DO have a far smaller percentage of gun crime, taking into account the population numbers....than you in America.

Criminals do not obtain their guns legally. So, the ones with guns would be the military, the police and criminals. The law abiding citizens would be defenseless. Police do not arrive until after the fact.

Statistics have shown that crime has gone up in both Australia and England since gun control has been in affect. Criminals are no longer deterred from attacking law abiding individuals because they know they are unarmed.

Wise words, I think ;)

And it has certainly caused me to rethink my position.

However, to get back to Ted's OP:

I do support the troops, as I said earlier.

War.......killing violence...I have a problem with..........especially wanton, gratuitous violence. This is not to say that I think our soldiers are engaged in such things.

One thing I hate is bullies or vicious people. Needless, gratuitous or unnecessary violence.

I do also know, however, that sometimes, force has to be met with force. Not only to protect the innocent, but to teach the guilty a lesson. For example, if a 'bully' was to have his teeth knocked out, I believe that would be a good thing, and he wouldn't be so keen to victimize others after learning that lesson.

Sometimes murderous terrorists need to be dealt with accordingly. If they are willing to indiscriminately kill and maim innocent members of the public, I think there comes a time when 'killing them back' is the only path to take as a last resort.

I wholeheartedly wish this wasn't the case, but in reality I know that it sometimes is.

My only contention was that I think that we should have dealt with Saddam Insane in the war of 1991, then there wouldn't be any need to 're-visit' the place and bring death and suffering to so many since that time.

Oh, I don't blame the soldiers....they only follow orders (and I'm glad that they do). I blame the politicians of the day for not dealing with this threat once and for all when they had the chance. Which has ended in putting more and more people in harm's way....including the soldiers themselves.

In retrospect, although I didn't agree with the 2003 invasion.....after seeing what these evil muslim terrorists are capable of since then, I am more and more inclined to see them wiped off the map, however and whenever it is done, or for whatever reason.

They simply don't live by western, civilized standards or values. Values which are very important to the majority of us, and which they (the terrorists) have no regard for.

There is a world of difference, in my opinion, between our western forces, ......and those evil, islamic murderers, who cut people's heads off while chanting allah (for allah, read 'demon' ) is 'great'

I only wish we could eradicate this menace as soon as possible, then the world would be a better place. :o

I don't have time to read every post(some are very long) but I was wondering if everyone or even some people here have watched "9/11 Coincidences"? I've been watching them on "YouTube". The information isn't in the mainstream media and is very disturbing. It holds a great deal of relevance to the OP question's answer. "9/11 Coincidences" part five was especially disturbing.

I support the troops :whistling:

Support the war???........well, I didn't really quite support the war so much originally, mainly for the reasons I have outlined above in previous posts.

I have watched quite a lot of the 9/11 videos online.....many of which raised doubts in my mind as to who was responsible, whether there was government complicity....whether it was a 'New World Order' plan to plunge the world into war, for whatever purposes.

I simply don't know the origin of such conflicts. Having been on the internet for only a couple of years or so, I think I have learned a lot in that time.

One thing I have learned is that, over and above all the rest of the propaganda out there......there is a REAL and DEADLY threat from Islamic fundamentalism and extremism.

As a Christian, I have come to realize that there are a great many individuals out there......millions, in fact........who have declared war on us (the Western, Christian Nations).

And they are deadly serious.

We are in a war. Like it or not.

The war has already been declared.

Trouble is, most people in the western world are not exposed to the level of indoctrination and hatred that is endemic in muslim societies. We see only the tip of the iceberg as regards the feelings of hatred towards us, and towards the Christian ideals in general. If we knew the whole scope and reach of such propaganda....even being preached to schoolchildren.....who are routinely brought up to hate Christian values, and are routinely instructed in how to bear arms...

I think we would be genuinely alarmed.

As we should be!

We are in a war. For whatever reason.

And war has been declared!

It has been, and is being, declared on a daily basis in the preaching of islamic 'Imams' and the like.

Make no mistake: WAR HAS BEEN DECLARED!!

Like it or not, I think 9/11 split the world into two camps: The 'Islamist' group....verses the 'Christian West Crusaders'

Whether we agree or disagree with the causes of the war, or who was responsible, or who was right or wrong,.... we are now locked in a deadly struggle with islamic fundamentalism. The long anticipated 'clash of civilizations'

They are growing. They are serious. They intend to take over the world and eradicate both Christianity and Israel.

And we are in the middle of it.

We are either born on the one side, or the other.

I was born on this side. And I support it :whistling:

It is 'Us' or 'Them'.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
