It truly amazes me when a person like me can go to a place called worthy chat. And when I defend the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ with many many Bible verses pertaining to the return of Christ, I am called maranatha. I've used all these Bible verses in the past few days, Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 12:35-59, Luke 17:20-37, Luke 21:1-38, 1Thessalonians 5.

And I am signed maranatha by rapture believing people! WOW, it must make them hiss to even be confronted with the verses about the RETURN of our LORD JESUS CHRIST.

(maranatha) meaning: 1Corinthians 16:22 If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.

This makes me very sad to see how blind they are to the truth. I think it's pretty evil to have been treated this way. Everything we and say and do is clearly seen by the eyes of God. Our Heavenly Father is Watching and He knows everything that goes on down here. We will all be judged!!!

I have loved the Lord Jesus for as long as I can remember. And I do look forward to the visible coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There are many many many decievers, and false teachers, here in this world, in the last days.

Tari, this must be the misunderstanding of the century.

The term "Maranatha" is a GOOD TERM. It is a cry for the Lord to return to use soon. It is not negative or derogatory in any way.

Now that I look back at the verse in the KJV (what I pasted) I can see how you are confused. The KJV is quite old and lacks some punctuation where it would be appropriate. Here is how the verse should actually look:

Corinthians 16:22 If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema. Maranatha.

Let me translate the terms... here is how it would read in english.

Corinthians 16:22 If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. Oh, Lord come!

The terms "Anathema" and "Maranatha" are not connected in that verse, despite the KJV's lack of proper punctuation.

You are a-okay, Tari! :emot-hug:

This brother has this to say:Anathema Maranatha

by David J. Stewart

"If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha." -1st Corinthians 16:22

The word "anathema" means "cursed." The word "Maranatha" means "the Lord is coming." The Word of God is saying that if anyone does not want to get saved, then let him be cursed because the Lord is coming. You can try to warn people, but they ultimately must make the decision to accept or reject Christ as their own personal Saviour. If we warn people of the judgment to come and they laugh in our faces, then they are choosing to go to hell by their own freewill. They will be cursed to burn in hell if they don't become born-again.

"A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself." -Titus 3:10-11

People may sometimes swear at us and curse God when we witness to them (which I had happen last weekend), but they are the one's who will be the losers when they die without Christ in their sins. I say that kindly. I was courteous to the unsaved man and prayed for him as I was leaving, but he is making a horrible decision. Did you know that no one goes to hell by mistake? It's true! No one accidentally goes to hell, people decide to go there by deciding to reject Christ as their Saviour. If Jesus is not your Saviour, then your sins have not been forgiven yet and you are still under the condemnation of God's Law. If you die in your unrepentant state, you WILL go straight to hell when you die to pay for your own sins. Have you asked Jesus to forgive you of your sins and to come into your heart?

A "heretick" is an unsaved person. The Bible says that if someone has witnessed to you at least twice but you refuse to get saved, then you are subverted. The word "subverted" in this passage of Scripture in the Greek means "to change for the worse, pervert, corrupt." Hence, people who repeatedly reject the gospel are corrupted within their own heart. Is God saying that we should give up on people? Of course not! Look back to Titus 3:9 please.

"But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain." -Titus 3:9

I don't believe we should ever throw people away by giving up on on them, but God does NOT want us wasting our time trying to win over stiff-necked unbelievers when there are so many people in this world waiting to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is what the Apostle Paul meant here in Titus 3:10-11. Our time is short upon the earth and we must use our resources wisely for God. Arguing only sheds more heat than light when sharing the Bible with people. It's ok to argue if the conversation is beneficial, but trying to reason with belligerent people is simply a waste of time. I simply won't let the conversation go there! If a person does not want to trust Christ as Saviour after a couple conversations, then they simply don't want to get saved. Arguing is an enjoyable sport to some people.

The world spends billions of dollars on silly and foolish things. I recently read an article in the newspaper which displayed a diamond designer hat worth $2,700,000! How many missionaries could that money support? All that money wasted for one hat! We may not have the large sums of money that the heathen do, but friend...the earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof (1st Corinthians 10:26). God will provide for our needs, even though the world would just as well we perished from off the face of the earth.

"If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha." -1st Corinthians 16:22

All we can do is witness to lost sinners of the saving power of the gospel of Christ Jesus. Only God can save a soul. We go soulwinning to LEAD people to Jesus Christ, but we can only bring them to the Master. As the saying goes..."You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink it." We can bring people to the throne of grace, but we can't save them. Each individual must deal directly with God in their heart. If a person wants to hear the gospel...amen! If a person does not, then the Bible says let them be ANATHEMA MARANATHA! Let them be cursed for the Lord cometh!

In Jesus' name,

David J. StewartWHAT DO YOU THINK?

Blessings

Maybe if anyone stopped to use their God given common sense they might stop to realize, when you are using words from a verse such as

1Corinthians 16:22 If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha

Don't you think that offense could be taken, by someone who happens to not be an expert in the correct meanings (anathema and maranatha). Hello, look at the context it is being used in.

And I don't for the life of me understand why some rapture believers cannot respect people who are looking forward to the visible return of Jesus Christ in Matthew 24, Mark 13 etc....

So, Tari, it looks like you are still peeved even though the problem has been resolved?

I cannot predict the responses of everyone who reads every text. I apologize if you misunderstood it, but I would think that a kind clarification of the issue should be sufficient to ease your mind. Relax.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
