No, I'm not in it. I was looking for a picture to show turtletwo what a sword drill looked like.

I am also glad I grew up before the cyber era. I even resisted the technology for a while when it first came out.

@marvelloustime, I loved reading about some of your childhood. I can just imagine you on stage doing your readings. I would have enjoyed joining you in the plays- I loved acting, but you would have to handle all the impressions. :)

What fun hearing about your and turtletwo's childhoods! Talking about memories brings more to mind. GIF-heart-little-heart.gif.47a3a1e6d48fd02b0a98e0bbc6b5c907.gif

Yes it’s nice to think back and remember fun and good memories. Our lives were so different then!

@marvelloustime @Jubilea

I am trying to find the hymn you both remember.

Is this the one?

Follow On by Robert Lowry

Down in the valley with my Savior I will go,
Where the flow’rs are blooming and the sweet waters flow;
Everywhere He leads me I will follow, follow on,
Walking in His footsteps till the crown be won.
  • Refrain:
    Follow! follow! I will follow Jesus!
    Anywhere, everywhere, I will follow on!
    Follow! follow! I will follow Jesus!
    Everywhere He leads me I will follow on!
Down in the valley with my Savior I will go,
Where the storms are sweeping and the dark waters flow;
With His hand to lead me I will never, never fear,
Danger cannot fright me if my Lord is near.

Down in the valley, or upon the mountain steep,
Close beside my Savior will my soul ever keep;
He will lead me safely in the path that He has trod,
Up to where they gather on the hills of God.

@turtletwo and @Jubilea

Talking of reminiscing of being a child, do you remember the days when if you wanted to call a friend, you had to ask one of your parents if you could use the phone to call (name)?

Then one of their parents would answer the phone and you’d ask to speak to your friend. Then if you wanted to invite them over, they would say “I’ll just go and ask my mom”. Then you’d wait on the phone in hope their mom would say yes!

Seems like yesterday, as that routine went on for years! Hehe.

@marvelloustime and @turtletwo

It was different at my house back in the olden days, and I remember this with a chuckle.

My father was a pastor, and every single time I asked to use the phone or when someone called me, he (precious man of God) would say, "Remember, this is a business phone," translated, "Don't talk too long." He was so concerned that someone who needed him, wouldn't be able to reach him.

We kids were allowed to answer the phone using the greeting, "Hello, this is the MacPherson residence. To whom do you wish to speak?" It sounds overly proper now, but back in my day, it was not an uncommon greeting back then.

And I remember the phone was an aqua princess phone.  Mother must have thought it went well with our harvest gold kitchen appliances. :emot-LOL:

And that brings back the memory of mother making me set the oven timer for one hour to practice piano-- (confession- sometimes I would sneak in the kitchen during practice and turn it up to about 5 minutes. I have no idea why she never said anything about that. :emot-LOL:)
