Know the Power of Your Tongue

Read James 2-10.

An important strategy you must take in meeting your battle objectives is to recognize how powerful your tongue is and how vital your words are in determining whether you live in defeat or in victory.These verses of Scripture are just some of many that could be used to illustrate this.

This tells us that we can be either blessed or cursed depending on the words we choose to say.For example,if a person keeps saying,I'm too weak to do that...I don't have the ability to do this..I am afraid to try...right away the nerves receive the message from the central nervous system saying they are weak or incapable,and their body begins to adjust itself to what it has heard.

To reinforce this truth,let's consider one of the three graphic illustrations James gives us concerning the tongue.Behold also the ships which though they be so great,and are driven of fierce winds,yet are they turned about with a very small helm,whithersoever the governor listeth.Even so the tongue is a little member,and boasteth great things.Behold,how great a matter a little fire kindleth! (James 3:4-5).

The important thing to remember is that you have the choice of being blessed or cursed...it is up to you to direct the rudder of your tongue so that when you go into battle the victory is won through the life-giving words that you speak.

And people think that when someone says " I dont wanna curse myself" they are superstitious

I know there are more verses in The Bible which back your selection up but I forgot them. Tongue is most definetly powerful.......Indeed!

Thank you so much freshoil for that....i needed to be reminded of this very thing..i have been stressed over something and i kept speaking how nervous i was about it instead of speaking the word over it..

The only thing that I would be careful of is misinterpreting God's Word to mean that you actually have the power of speaking something into or out of existence. That kind of thought is consistent with the teachings of the Word-Faith movement, which is false.
