Jesus said, "I am the Way..."

Jesus often used parables, that when examined side by side seem contradictory. He said that He is the gate and also the gatekeeper. He is the shepherd and also the lamb. He is the sacrificed lamb yet also the priest.

A friend of mine once shared with me this thought, "Jesus did NOT say , 'I teach the way, or I show the way; He said, 'I am the Way' ". Yes, He does also teach and show us the way. But what does He mean by, "I am the Way"?

Does He mean that if we believe and confess in Him we can get to the Father? Yes.

But, I believe He also means something far more intense and mystical. We must unite ourselves totally with Him, and through Jesus, in a very real way, come to the Father.

There is something here that feels like it's just beyond my grasp.

Any thoughts????

May the peace of Christ be with you all. I miss fellowshipping with you.

I take this as the way to the father, it is through his blood, his sacrifice his atonement that we can even come before the father, in his holiness. HE IS THAT NARROW PATH THAT LEADS TO LIFE!

Amen. It means that Jesus accomplished that which no one before Him did. He split the veil that seperated us from God the Father. He lived a perfect life and was a perfect worthy sacrifice for our sins.

Mat 27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mar 15:38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luk 23:45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.

Rev 5:12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

One thing I must say here: There is nothing hidden in what Jesus did or intends. He said to go and preach the good news to all. There is no hidden knowledge that we must find in order to achieve salvation. God spells it out so that all may receive it. It is a free gift that is laid out totally in the light for all to see.

Sister Fiosh,

I am by no means knowledgeable of Jewish tradition but I read somewhere once that "the way, the truth and the life" referred to the three entrances in the Jewish Temple... the outer gate, the inner door and the veil that separated man from the innermost dwelling of God, the Holy of Holies.

So what Jesus was teaching is that HE is the sole mediator between God and man and that HE is the only means of access to the Father. I think He made it clear when He further stated, "no one comes to the Father but through Me." Furthermore, His words were authenticated when at the moment of His death on the cross, "the veil of the temple (the life) was torn in two from top to bottom." [Matthew 27:51]

It is interesting to note that the Way leads us into the temple, the Truth leads into the inner court but it is the Life that Christ laid down willingly for all of us that leads to the Holy of Holies.

Maybe one of our Jewish scholars can confirm this?

May God Bless you richly,

Wayne

Greetings Fiosh,

John 14:4-11 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. 5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. 8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. 9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

I believe Jesus is mildly rebuking Thomas et al, for asking such a question. IF we know Jesus, then we KNOW the way. We are given the Holy Spirit to guide us and to instruct us "in the way". I suspect that this is the critical point that most people overlook. Jesus was solely dependent upon the Holy Spirit for everything, even as we should be.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

While Ernie put things right where they needed to be, there is Biblical disussion on how we are connected to Christ's death and resurrection:

RO 6:3 Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

RO 6:5 If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin-- 7 because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.

Have a blessed day!

One could actually argue against that.

Luk 8:10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

Joh 12:40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

Rom 11:8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.

Rom 11:9 And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:

Rom 11:10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.

Not that we shouldn't preach, for we do not know who is "granted sight" and who is not. But, the idea that everyone freely gets the gospel is debatable. I was given the gospel many times before it finally "clicked" and rang true in my heart.

I hope this speaks to you and addresses what you are asking about:

Eph 2:14  For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

Eph 2:15  Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Eph 2:16  And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The enmity is slain, due to the power given through Christ Jesus by the power of His Grace. His Grace is sufficient to overcome, that is why there can be newness of life in us, because of the working of His grace, by our faith to believe in the power. That is the mystery of Christ Jesus in us. He came in the flesh for a reason, to make peace and fulfill the law.

Please consider this again:

Please O Lord, fill my conversations with grace.

Col 1:13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,

The Mystery

Col 1:26 the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. 27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 28 Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. 29 To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.

4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5 They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. 6 We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

LISTEN CLOSELY!!!

Colossians 2

8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

Colossians 3

5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 7 in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.

8 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,

1 John 2

26 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. 27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will  abide in Him.

28 And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming. 29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.

1 John 3

4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. 7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. 10 In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.

In His Love,

Suzanne

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

1 Cor 15:27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. 28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

In His Love,

Suzanne

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
