I think the reality is that the Lord teaches us how to live a life that makes us happy. 1

We go to Him as the Great Counselor and tell Him why we are unhappy and what is on our heart.

Firstly, He told her she had to go into relationship counseling. Then He told her she had broken several commandments and had to offer up a sin offering before He would say more. Funny that. In ACTUALITY He offered her what she most needed - Living Water.
