There was a post on here recently about the real story behind what is going on in Iraq or something to that effect, and I'm trying to locate it. Does anyone know where I can find it? I don't remember what category it was under. Help!!

Hope that helps!

All depends on what you refer to as "the real story"!

Seriously, most of those type threads are in the War on Terror area or the latest news page. Some have made it to the Outer court, as well.

If the thread you are looking for got nasty from either side of the debate, it may have been deleted, as well.

Have no fear, another will start in less than 5 minutes... :P

Hope this helps.

Thanks Ted & Kahlan,

Our youngest son is in Iraq and he called tonight and talked with me and then his dad and he said something to his dad about the fact that now he knows the real reason we are over there, but of course, he couldn't say, so that got me thinking that there was a post on here about something like that and I wanted to read it. I'm sure there are many speculations and differences of opinion about the war. I have read some of them. I generally try to stay away from anything that gets heated, though. Well, here goes to searching...

Ted,

It was your post I was looking for: "Hidden Agenda in Iraq." My son's comments to his father indicated there was a hidden agenda, which, of course, he could not tell us, since it is classified. All he could say is that his political views have changed since going over there.

He is a chemical weapons specialist - the guy who goes in after a chemical weapon has been set off and does the clean-up, I think. He is the one who has to wear the big suit. But, they have him working a desk job over there monitoring trucks, because there is no need for his job until there is a chemical weapon that is used, right? Well, it was either the desk job or driving around in a truck with a machine gun, so I'm glad he got the desk job.

I've never been much into politics, because I never understood it. I had football coaches for my government and history teachers in high school and they did more playing than they did teaching. I never got to that subject in college, so I generally just stayed away from conversations that were political in nature due to my lack of understanding. As I'm getting older, I am reading more and gaining more understanding and I'm still learning. Having a son in Iraq is definitely motivation to want to know what is going on over there. So, you may see me drop in on the "war" posts now & then, so I'll probably see you around.

CFS,

First off, please relay to your son my heart felt thanks and appreciation for the willingness to help us there.

It means a lot.

We will look back, one day, at the various aspects of the war on terror and never be able to answer every question about it. There are things that we will never know, whether good or bad.

Questions about the invasion of Iraq will continue forever, IMO. Whether we are looking for reasons to justify it, or to rally support against it, we will never get to every truth in the matter.

What people are missing in both sides of the debate is the big picture. People for the war in Iraq see it as a tyrant getting his just due. People against it see it as the rich getting richer, and each little tid-bit of information we gather will be used to support our sides. We can't help it, it's in our nature not to want to be caught on the wrong side.

We take from it what we can to help secure our arguments for or against.

To me, one man has decided that he has had enough of what terrorists mean to the world, and has decided to use his position in life to eradicate it. He decided that the time was now to begin. Personally, I support that decision. There's not a whole lot that I agree with, when talking about George w. Bush, because when you boil it all down, he is still just another politician. He lies, he shakes hands, and he makes his deals. No different than most, just a different flavor. But, I do support the idea that people who send others off to blow up children in a market place are a menace to human dignity, and need to be stopped. It's why I went to Afghanistan, and why I will most likely go on to other deployments. As long as my body and my Lord will let me, I will go.

It's not about the oil, although it is a hefty bounty to the victors. It's not about the riches that can be made by providing the latest weaponry, although there will surely be riches made.

It's about finally taking the last breath and hope of a terrorist out of him. It's about Jewish children that are destroyed by a crazed lunatic with tnt strapped to his belt. It's about school kids that are murdered simply because they were in school. It's about women that are abused as a matter of state policy. It's about 3,000 innocent people that died on 9/11/2001. It's about "war lords" that raid relief convoys and keep the supplies for there own needs, ignoring the needs of the very people that he keeps down by the sword. It's about Christians that are destroyed because they finally see through the lies of Islam, and are killed because if their simple faith in Christ. It's about the beheadings of civilians in the vilest way. It's about right and wrong, plain and simple. It's about someone finally saying "y'know what? I'll do it".

I just happen to agree with him on this one.

We will never perfect the running of war. Mistakes will always be made, and some will always try to cover it up. It's a sad fact, but a fact still. Why people just don't come clean and say they messed up is beyond my reasoning, and I try not to excuse them much, but in the great scheme of things, there is a whole lot more to this war we have declared than oil, riches, and fame.

Sadly, we will not stop in Iraq, because there will always be another leader that imposes his brand of insanity upon others in the human race. So, off we go.

Some say that we are enduring the wrath of the terrorists because we have brought it upon ourselves, but I don't recall sending any of these people out to rape, torture, maim, and kill any innocents with a car bomb, an airplane, or a sharpened knife, but yet some would kill me simply because I am an American, if I was captured on the street. I'm sorry, but it was going to get worse whether we launched against them or not. In fact, it was starting to get a lot worse as the years passed by, prior to 9/11.

We forget those days prior to 9/11, don't we? We forget the horror of the nightly news when we heard about another bomb going off "over there". We didn't think much of it because it never really got our clothes dirty. Remember when it shocked us to hear of it on the news?

Until the Lord sees fit to change my heart, I will continue to be ready for the next deployment. I will continue to fight them, on their ground or our, it makes no difference. I still hold the same resolve now, as I did on that terrible day. When the US leaders actually stood arm in arm, united in the cause, I stood with them and took to heart the promise to bear the pain and stand strong in a long and drawn out process. Some in our leadership have faltered in just a few short years. They made an issue of it when their dreams of being elected blinded the very resolve that they asked me to have back then. They saw an opening in which they sought to use the issue to advance their chances of being elected, and fell flat on their faces. Now, with no other recourse following their failure in the last elections, they are forever stuck with the decisions they made. Having changed sides once, I'm truly surprized that they haven't done so again, but they remain stuck with their decisions just the same.

Does anyone really think that the war would have ended if the elections turned out differently? No, it would have continued, except it would have been done the "right" way, of course.

Right?

To me, it's not a game, nor will I jump ship simply because it's unpopular now. Remember all of those flags we saw on porches, store fronts, and car windows in the weeks after 9/11? Where did they go, anyway?

Well, mine still flies!

Even if the next President is Hillary Clinton, or anyone else I'm not too fond of, I will support them if they continue the fight. It's not the person in charge that I follow, its' the Nation they lead.

So please, seek out the answers that are there. Read all sides of the issue, and come to your own conclusions. Mine is only one of millions of opinions, and that many more are out there. Listen to all, and seek what God may have in store for you.

Come to your decision, and stand by it, no matter which way you turn. If I am wrong, I can never learn from someone that has not the confidence in their heart of their convictions. If I am right, no one will believe me if I falter in my resolve.

Give your son all the love and support you can muster. Be there for him when he comes back, not only as one who is proud of his deeds, but one who simply loves your child.

But above all else, give service to God, who has made all things possible for the glory of His Name.

While looking back on my own words here, I think I have said about all I can to help people see how I feel about the wars we now wage, and I don't think I'll say much more about it again. We can only continue in the resolve we have inside ourselves. I guess there's not much point in me having to say it again anywhere else.

Thank you for listening, and helping me put into words what was so difficult in the past.

May your days be Blessed.

t.

Ted,

WOW! You should run for office!! Well, at least you should become a speech writer. That was a great speech!! You definitely have a gift. I feel the passion that is in your heart. You expressed your thoughts well. It was a joy to read what you wrote. I feel very inspired now to find out what I can about the war in Iraq. Thanks so much for the insight and for taking the time to share your views with me. As a mother of a soldier, I appreciate your words of encouragement to my son, as well.

God bless!!

See you around the boards...

I don't know what thread you're talking about but chances are somebody didn't like it so they either made a really nasty post in order to get it deleted (so nobody else could read it) OR they went whining to the mods and asked it to be pulled (so nobody else could read it) with the general excuse being either it was too "conspiratorial" or it wasn't uplifting Christ (as if the war in Iraq is).

That's just my personal guess based on past experience at this forum.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
