Overall there may be more Christians right now than at any time in history. So all is not bleak. Perhaps England the USA and Europe in general are much like the tribes were that are told of within the books of kings. They wander and God turns his face against them for a time, a long time even. He said that people who are there are all sinners ie: hypocrites, drug addicts adulterers, people filled with pride etc... but you will also find people there who are trying to live their lives according to the teachings of Jesus. I just want to say, people like the ones you are describing can give the church a bad reputation and put off others who want to have genuine fellowship. When my husband didn't want to go to church because he claimed they are all hypocrites. I now have three church bodies that I associate with. If I can do that as a fat, and plain, bald, bearded, old geezer, I think most anyone can if they are a mind to.
