Does Jesus dying for our sins mean anything other than that Jesus took the punishment for our sins by dying for them?

yes, it means we've been spared the punishment He took for us, and been given a future we could never deserve

I think you might be missing the simplicity of my question (if that's the right way to put it), or I'm still missing something, I guess.

it is obvious we're somehow talking past each other....somehow communication isn't happening...but I am at a loss to understand why.  I'll leave this to someone else to try to answer.  And that's not meant in any kind of dismissive tone.  I truly don't understand where the disconnect is.   I simply don't understand exactly what it is you're asking.

Does Jesus "dying for our sins" mean anything other than that Jesus took the punishment for our sins by dying for them?

Does that help?

not really friend. If the answers I've tried to give so far have not been satisfactory, i don't know what to turn to next.

Oops, sorry about that. You aren't wording my question differently unless I'm mistaken somehow. (I asked you not to word my question differently, unless I'm mistaken nzkev)

I think my question still stands, again unless I'm missing something.

If i answer 'no'.....there is a perspective I can adopt toward the question that would be satisfied ...accurately by the "no" answer.

If I answer 'yes'....there is also a perspective I can adopt toward the question that would require a "yes" answer.

Without a better understanding of your perspective on the question, i'm at a loss as to how to answer.

I think you might be missing what I'm asking, unless I'm missing something.

Does Jesus "dying for our sins" mean anything other than that Jesus took the punishment for our sins by dying for them? I guess this is sort of the new question.

can you elaborate on what we seem to be missing?  Perhaps explain where and why the answers I attempted to give fell short of your expectation?  NZKEV's answer also seemed quite simple and relevant to me....use his answer to explain from if that's easier.
