I got this from a friend who is on active duty in Iraq. He is american.

Happy Independence Day.

Do you know that this country which I am so honored to be helping is on a journey of independence of their own. I have heard and read much lately about the American people loosing interest in supporting President Bush in this venture over here. There are many who believe that we should be moving our troops out of this theater and bringing them home.

I think you could ask just about any soldier or service member over here if they want to go home and they would say yes. I think you could then ask them if it

Wow! I thank the Lord for men and women in our Armed Forces like this courageous Soldier! And Yes we should be there I agree, as long as it takes! it kinda puts things more into perspective when You hear just how much good our troops are doing there! My Hats off to them ! And They are in my thoughts everyday! We would not be so free to do as we please and take so many things for granted( which I for one am ashamed!)if not for those protecting our homefront and fighting Terror in places such as Iraq, so we remain free , and my thoughts and Prayers go out to those people in Iraq and Afghanistan who so desire a free nation!

Thanks for sharing all that. I copied and pasted all of it on to a Word Document so that I can print it off for easier reading. My youngest son is a soldier in Iraq, so I'm interested in hearing the perspective of other soldiers over there. He wants so much to be home, I don't think he has a fair perspective, perhaps, of what is going on there that is good. He is a newlywed, and all he can think about is being home with his wife.

Some of the people I work with at the brig have come back and they said that it wasn't too bad. They did a 6 month tour over there. Alot of them want to go back. It depends on who you talk to.
