The best study on Revelation i have ever heard was one where they didn't worry about trying to figure out "what will happen," but rather "what does the Lord want to teach us thorugh this."

So, when you read about the Lord's word to the seven churches, instead of focusing on the prophetic element, focus on, "How does the Lord want me to live based on what He has spoken to these churches?"

Does that make sense?

Alot of abused verses comes from not knowing a meaning of a word in that verse.Such case would be the word"suffer".This word has two meanings.....one is to allow and another means to feel pain or distress. In the verse..."suffer the little children".....JESUS is saying allow the little children to come unto HIM and forbid them not.I heard a preacher once use this verse with the meaning of suffer as being in pain!We need to know the meaning of Biblical words in order to understand a verse and its meaning.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

That's stupid.

Horrible in fact!

:35:

How could ANYONE misinterpet something like that...

So the preacher says "Make 'em suffer.

Madness.

Mad guy!!!

Yomo

Yomo, dear, you don't allow others to speak to each other this way in your threads. Let's use the same respect in other people's threads. Keep in mind that just because you understand something, doesn't mean that everyone else will. We are all at different stages in our walk with God. Some have more understanding than others. Knowledge doesn't come instantly.:noidea:

Yeah that is true. Nebula has some good things to say about how understanding what words mean:

We need to understand that "meek" does not equal "weak".

According to the Lexicon offered by crosswalk.com:

Meekness toward God is that disposition of spirit in which we acceptHis dealings with us as good, and therefore without disputing orresisting. In the OT, the meek are those wholly relying on God ratherthan their own strength to defend them against injustice. Thus, meekness toward evil people means knowing God is permitting theinjuries they inflict, that He is using them to purify His elect, andthat He will deliver His elect in His time.

Meek has to do with submissiveness and conrolled strength. Meekness says, "I will hope in the Lord" rather than "I'll take vengence myself."

Meek does not mean "doormat."

Grasping what words mean to a particular author is important in understanding the point(s) he/she is trying to convey.

Another verse to consider--2 Chronicles 7:14

Let it be noted that there is not one verse in the New Testament that would lead us to believe that we are to be making nations to be Christian. There is not one verse that instructs the believer to go forth and change nations.

You are completely wrong.

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

(Matthew 28:18-20)

And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. (Luke 24:46-48)

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Acts 1:7-8)

The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

(Isaiah 52:10)

And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.

(Isaiah 49:6)

Thus, to try to use this verse for any other nation is an misapplication and dislocation of God

shiloh357,

I believe in everything you quoted by the scriptures in post 54. Now, go back and re-read my statements in post 54 to what I actually said.

No... the onus is on you to explain what you really mean.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
