I had a debate a few weeks ago with 2 older relatives.  Basically they were saying flour naturally spout weevils  if it's left alone for too long. I pointed out that the weevils can't just magically appear like that. What really happens is female weevils bore into the packaging and lay eggs which eventually hatch into the ones seen in the flour.

Cue loud debate ( my family is like that) of how silly my explanation is and how the bible talks about spontaneous  generation (where  God everything from nothing )  which is how the weevils appear in the flour and that we were here (alive) before you.

When the topic was Googled and the explanation  given  ( same as mine) that explanation was rejected saying " You're listening to the scientists " It was all very hilarious.

But theres an application  here. Sometimes we can be the same way.Sometimes we can get so comfortable  with the beliefs  and doctrines we grew up with or were taught that we refuse to let them go  and use snything to defend them, even if they were proven to be unbiblical. It happened with Jesus and the Pharisees with their traditions and we see it today. Eg i got screamed at by an Anglican for saying confirmation and salvation aren't the same. They literally said what I said was evil and of the devil.

So we need to be more open minded and remember that the word truth doesn't neccessarily mean- What we've always heard

Yep. The best way to interpret the Bible is by using the Bible itself. Problem is  . . .  that requires work from the reader and most do not want to go there opting to take what others say about scriptures instead of being like the Bereans who searched scriptures to find out if what Paul preached was true or not.

And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.  Acts 17:10
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.  Acts 17:11

If a scripture does not sound right, there are other tools available like word studies, investigation into what the culture was like at the time they were written, commentaries by trusted men and women of God, etc.

But that does take some work . . .

Grace and Peace . . . .

God means what He has had recorded as scripture for man. Man does the darnedest things with it. Here God may be providing extra protein needed in flour and man rejects the gift, then argues about where it came from.

Love the picture.

Unfortunately antintellectualism is still raging through the church and any explanation that isn't from the Bible or a twisted explanation from the Bible is suspected.

Warner Wallace of coldcasechristianity says the police are trained to deal with situations and we should be training our young people to explain/defend the gospel.

AiG thinks Christians should be taught about creation and evolution. In an honest comparison evolution always losses .

Weevils and flour

Well, they do happen. One time I bought a cheap bag of non name brand cat food. That was my first mistake. Next time I'll stick with Purina or something classy. I opened the bag as it was a doozy jumbo size to put into my plastic dispenser with a handle. In there were all these icky bugs. I dunno what kind they were, but it was simply disgusting! I ended up having to throw it all out. What a waste of money. Lesson learned? Never buy cheap cat food again!

My pet Stegosaurus was NOT happy!

Weevils have to be present in the flour to begin with.

Yep. They get into the storage silos long before shipping, packaging, and distribution, for sale in markets.
