On this day in history, in the port of call city of Liverpool in England, the fab duo of John Lennon and Paul McCartney officially joined musical forces. This was the humble beginnings of The Beatles. John had already been in and/or formed several groups. The Quarrymen was this band John met up with Paul. Several years following with George Harrison and last of all Ringo Starr, (Richard Starkey) the fist hit they composed and recorded was, Love Me Do - Lennon/McCartney. The rest is history. Beatlemania had begun. I guess you could say it was very much a Magical Mystery Tour.

6 July 1957 was a pivotal day for the history of modern music: it was the day that John Lennon met Paul McCartney for the first time. In the afternoon the Quarrymen skiffle group played at the garden fete of St Peter’s Church, Woolton, Liverpool. The performance took place on a stage in a field behind the church.

Love Me Do

Lennon/McCartney

Love, love me do
You know I love you
I'll always be true
So please, love me do
Whoa, love me do

Love, love me do
You know I love you
I'll always be true
So please, love me do
Whoa, love me do

Someone to love
Somebody new
Someone to love
Someone like you

Love, love me do
You know I love you
I'll always be true
So please, love me do
Whoa, love me do

Love, love me do
You know I love you
I'll always be true
So please, love me do
Whoa, love me do
Yeah, love me do
Whoa, love me do
Yeah, love me do

So sad that Mr. Lennon was taken so young, sad indeed.

It absolutely broke mine and also my sister's hearts. We were devastated by this.

This was a day when truly the end of an era occurred and seemingly, the music died.

In a way, our hearts faded within ourselves. The sorrow was tremendously overwhelming.

Personally speaking, it was one of the most shocking events of the 20th Century. A man who stood for peace was taken down in the most senseless form of violence known to mankind. The power of death in the palm of a hand. Five, five bullets from a 38 revolver silenced one who had composed a song, All You Need Is Love.

I pray that all things hidden in the darkness will come to the light, that our sins will be revealed and that His kingdom will come and His will be done in EARTH, as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10, Luke 11:2

Yeah, this topic became a little heavy for me and I've had a really rough couple of days here living in this nursing facility. We experience enough death on a daily basis, so let's lighten the topic out a bit, shall we? Here's the flip side of the 45 rpm recording of The Beatles very first hit song, Love Me Do. This is the B-side to that record, Please Please Me.

P.S. I personally prefer a lot of B-side records as being even greater than the original hit. This is one fine example. John plays harmonica on both tunes, but the vocal harmonies of John and Paul with George are clearly here in this one. I like it!

Please Please Me

Last night I said these words to my girl
I know you never even try girl
Come on, come on, come on, come on,
Please please me like I please you.

You don't need me to show the way love
Why do I always have to say love
Come on, come on, come on, come on,
Please please me like I please you.

I don't want to sound complaining
But you know there's always rain in my heart.

I do all the pleasing with you
It's so hard to reason with you.
Oh yeah why do you make me blue.

Last night I said these words to my girl
I know you never even try girl
Come on, come on, come on, come on,
Please please me like I please you, you.

I'm actually a generation behind and only learned of Lennon's death maybe a year ago. This morning I listened to  "The Fool on the Hill" and it really resonated with me.

Day after day
Alone on a hill
The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still
But nobody wants to know him
They can see that he's just a fool
And he never gives an answer

But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning 'round

Well on the way
Head in a cloud
The man of a thousand voices
Talking perfectly loud

But nobody ever hears him
Or the sound he appears to make
And he never seems to notice

But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning 'round

And nobody seems to like him
They can tell what he wants to do
And he never shows his feelings

But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning 'round
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
'Round and 'round and 'round and 'round and round

And he never listens to them
He knows that they're the fools
They don't like him

The fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning 'round

Bob Dylan mentions the Beatles in his new song "Murder Most Foul". He says, Hush, little children, you'll understand The Beatles are comin', they're gonna hold your hand. (He's another one I didn't find out about until 6/7 years ago.)

Take care. I hope you're able to be a light in the darkness where God has you for now.

Thank you so much for this, sister. Mom and I have always been very big Bob Dylan fans as well. And yes I do feel the Lord had used me in ways here I've never imagined. An entirely new aspect of ministering for Him. Most who come to reside here are in the twilight of their years. They are fast and fleeting and quickly they pass. It's truly amazing when we think on these things.

As we come to a certain age, we can look back at the previous 20 or so years ago and wonder to ourselves, "Where did the time go?" There was also a song by the UK folk band, Fairport Convention. A song by similar title, Who Knows Where the Time Goes. Singer Sandy Dennis, passed away quite young as a result of a tragic head injury. I'm here as a similar situation, but I survived and yet live.

Thank you, Jesus!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
