What is so great about having accountability?

Last night at VBS, they ended the message in the teen group with that if we wanted to talk to someone even for accountability, to just talk to someone "tonight". They said a few other things with the same outcome. THe topic was on "Who you are in the dark." I don't understand what is so great about it, or why it is so important to have accountability..

What is so great about having accountability?

James 5:16: "Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results."

In context, this is talking of physical healing, but there are all kinds of healings - healings of the mind, soul, emotions, spirit, etc.

Accountability is important, because as long as no one knows, it is so easy to continue in our sin. But, when we tell someone, then it brings it out into the open and now we are responsible for making it better. If we feel no one cares, it is easy to continue in sin, but if we know someone is asking how we are doing, it really helps us to live righteously.

James 5:19-20: "My dear brothers and sisters, if anyone among you wanders away from the truth and is brought back again, you can be sure that the one who brings that person back will save that sinner from death and bring about the forgiveness of many sins."

It is a great thing to help each other to not sin. We all need accountability to someone besides God. That is why God gave us the Church - the Body of believers - one of the many reasons we have one another!

Accountability helps you grow in fellowship with another and to grow in your walk with the lord, this is also determined by how you choose to use that time you have togather. I had some friends who studie Gods word togather where they could be alone, and they talked about the things going on in their lives. When I did it with a girl-(friend) we would read christian books togather and talk about their means and how it can relate to our everyday life. We also watched films and talked about the good things in them and what we longed for in a future relationship. She ended up getting married and so we haven't done it since cause she now has other things she has to do, like cook and clean, go to school, college, and of course spend time with her new husband. But I totally encourage you as well to have a accountability partner it helps you grow as a christian and stay on the stright and narrow. God Bless

Eventually we all will have to be accountable to God. Accountability here is good practice for the final event. It keeps our receptors fine-tuned, so we arent so likely to back slide and lose track of God's purpose in our lives.
