......of praying for world Peace, when the Bible clearly states what's gonna happen?

:)

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The bible says to:

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6)

I suppose it can be for the literal city or symbolically for the church..

either way.. the bible says we should do it.. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt praying for both.. :P:P

I suppose

Yes, the Bible never tells us to pray for world peace for that would go against what the word tells us that true world wide peace will only come when Messiah returns.

However we are told to Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, which is G-ds HOLY city, it is never referred to as the church though.

Hi Zayit.. Oh... in my bible (Women of Faith Study Bible NIV) on a side note it said that some may believe .. well let me just type out what it said..

This is only part .. but it says...

In the Bible, Jerusalem can also refer symbolically to the salvation available in Jesus Christ's church on earth (Heb. 12:22-24) and to his glorified church ( "the new Jerusalem") in heaven (Rev. 3:12; 21:2). In this context, to pray for "the peace of Jerusalem" is not only to pray for the literal city, it is a prayer that peace will reign within God's visible church and his eternal rule over heaven and earth will be sure and will come soon. (Rev. 22:20)

I was reading this in my time with the Lord a while ago.. ...and when I read this thread.. it came to me and I thought I would share it..

I put both because - I had a feeling if I just said Psalm 122:6.. someone would say.. well that is symbolic for the church .. and if I would have said the other.. someone would have said the other.. ya know how it goes ..

so I said both ..

This issue brings up a question I have had for a long time. How much does G-d allow himself to know? If we were created for HIS pleasure, where is the fun of knowing the ending before the show is over? And how do we than have free will. And are the Biblical statements knowing what is to come(WAR and such), really just a challenge to us? A challenge to turn our backs on ourselves. And turn ourseleves to G-d. Remember Jesus said: "Ask in my name, and you shall have it.".

Maybe, just maybe, when we realize as the song says "WAR!!!! WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?, and realize that as another song says"LOVE! LOVE CHANGES

EVERYTHING!!!"

Maybe G-d will change things for us. Forget about G-d allowing war to happen. Since we need to learn stuff for ourselves. Maybe G-d will see that we see the errors in our ways. And will allow peace and love to reign. That is why I pray for peace in the world. I am sure that, like alot of movie buffs, G-d and the angels enjoy a good war picture from time to time. And we are here for his PLEASURE. *slight sarcasm* But G-d, c'mon already. Is it not time for this world to become a romantic comedy? Where a man will meet cute with a woman. Have a misadventure or two. And than live happily ever after. I've learned my lessons about the inherent evils of war. AND I WANT A HAPPY ENDING. Just like this song says. It's one of my personal, and big, favorites:

Happy Ending(From The Pirate Movie)

No more sad times, mad, or bad times,

No more minor keys.

Life's for living, sharing, giving,

Life's for you and me.

When the going's rough and you've had enough,

Leave your troubles and your woes.

Turn the other cheek and forget your grief,

Make a friend out of your foe.

CHORUS:

Give me a happy ending every time.

We'll kiss and make up,

That's a very peaceful sign.

Give me a happy ending every time.

Don't be unhappy, everything will work out fine.

No more fighting, scratching, biting,

No more police and thieves.

All is sweetness, light, and neatness.

Yes sir, no thanks, please.

When you had your fill of life's ugly pills

The sadness and the pain.

Take the box of pills and attendant ills,

Flush them down the drain.

CHORUS:

Give me a happy ending every time.

We'll kiss and make up,

That's a very peaceful sign.

Give me a happy ending every time.

Don't be unhappy, everything will work out fine.

I just realized how Christian this song is.

Hey Mikado..

I'm not a bible scholar -- and I'm not of the dark side either...

I'll just answer what I know how too... the best I can from what is in my heart..:P and If I am wrong here.. I am sure someone will let me know..:blink::wub:

First........ God Knows Everything.. Here is just one verse that says so... there are tons more.. If you need more.. tell me I'll find them for you...

Hebrews 4:13

"Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account."

Unforutnately, or fortunately, however you want to think of it.. God gave us a free will.. and most of what we live under in this world.. is a result of our choices .. and we have to pay the consequences for what we choose to do.. and unfortunatly.. that includes innocent people hurting because of a bad choice another person has made..... like for example.. Someone who drives drunk -- then crashes into an innocent someone killing them or injuring them severly...

sometimes bad things just happen with no explanation to good undeserving people.. while evil people are very wealthy and good things are going on for them.. .. and I can't answer why that happens.. maybe someone else can..

.. but we live in a sin natured world.. Where Good and Evil battle it out in people.. Sin was brought into the world ages ago.. by a bad choice that 2 humans made.. by believing what "someone else" told them.. and disregarding what God told them.. that is how we got into this pickle...

disobedience to God is what gets people in trouble.. and believe me.. I know that first hand!!!

Thats just the way it is.. and while we may not understand it all... this is how it will be until it all unfolds and God restores everything in the end. And makes it all right and ends the chaos we live in ...

But Thats why we need to cling to Jesus.. God sent Him to us ..to reconcile us to Him... To save us and to show us His true nature... GOD IS LOVE, God has mercy on those who repent and follow Him.. God really does love us.. and he proved that through Jesus Christ! -- He is our hope.. our salvation...and HE LOVES YOU! And cares.. but you have a choice to submit or not..and where you spend your eternity.. is well.. your choice..

As far as war goes.. well.. its just something that is .... why? I don't know.. we all hate war.. well, most of us anyway... .. .. but if we didnt have war.. we wouldn't be living in a free country either ....War.. what is it good for? Alot.. but then .. not much either.. it depends on what we are fighting for.

God used war to defend His people, and show his wrath..

Ecclesiastes 3:8 says.. there is a time for war and a time for peace..

Well while we are singing some old songs.. lets sing Ecclesiastes 3:

or you may recognize it as Turn Turn Turn.. :b:

1 There is a time for everything,

and a season for every activity under heaven:

2 a time to be born and a time to die,

a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3 a time to kill and a time to heal,

a time to tear down and a time to build,

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,

a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

6 a time to search and a time to give up,

a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7 a time to tear and a time to mend,

a time to be silent and a time to speak,

8 a time to love and a time to hate,

a time for war and a time for peace.

:)

We give God pleasure when we do his will and follow his commands.. Love Him, Praise Him, Worship Him.. and do things that glorify Him.. all the day long..

We give Him sadness and sorrow.. when we follow other religions, disobey his commands..and refuse to accept His free gift of Love, Mercy and Salvation = Jesus! He is sad when make bad choices that ultimately hurt us or someone else.. God is a good God compassionate and gracious.... slow to anger ...abounding in Love.. (Ex. 34:6; Numbers 14:18; Nehemiah 9:17;Psalm 86:15; Psalm 103:8; Psalm 145:8; Joel 2:13; Jonah 4:2; Nahum1:3 and the whole bible is full of what God is really like..

I think.. in my small mind.. that God loves us soooooooooooo much.. that he just lets time go on and on to give people a chance to turn to him.. I think that is what its all about.. He does not want anyone to suffer enternally.. so he has to "turn up the heat" so to speak and actually forcce us - or persuade us greatly.. to choose Him under dire circumstances .. the more stubborn ones need some real heavy coaxing..

unfortunately some people die untimely deaths -- without knowing the Lord..

God gives us plenty of time to choose Him and turn from our wicked ways.. lots of time.. but then .there comes the day when time is up.. and some people will suffer their bad choices eternally.. :(

There is a song that says these words..

One day every tongue will confess You are God

One day every knee will bow

Still the greatest treasure remains for those

Who gladly choose You now......

Thats why you should choose Him now .. and repent .. and follow the Lord !

There has to be something special in gladly choosing Him .. without having to be forced to do it.. under dire circumstances.. I believe that with all my heart..

becasue if you died this very day.. where will you be? With Jesus?

God will change everything.. someday.. He has a plan and its in motion.. and why we don't understand it all... we just have to wait paitiently for it to play out.. trust in Him.. and follow Him.. and know that if we do that.. He is in control of our lives!

Turn your heart over to Jesus..Mikkado.. Jesus Loves you VERY MUCH.... and He is waiting for you!!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

First off. Always a pleasure to meet a fellow song quoter like myself. And "Turn, Turn, Turn" is a favorite of mine. :24::) to you!!

Second: I've been saved since 1/21/05 PRAISE G-D!!!

Hebrews 4:13

"Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account."

This I belive. But while everyone is laid bare. What about the events of the future? If G-d, who can know, chooses to know the future. What is the point to prayer? If each saved person is already known. And all outcomes too. Like I said what pleasure is there in knowing the outcome before the show is over? And that begs the question. How are some folks in the right place at the right time? For whatever the reason that such timing is needed. One of the great mysteries, I think.

Unforutnately, or fortunately, however you want to think of it.. God gave us a free will.. and most of what we live under in this world.. is a result of our choices .. and we have to pay the consequences for what we choose to do.. and unfortunatly.. that includes innocent people hurting because of a bad choice another person has made..... like for example.. sometimes bad things just happen with no explanation to good undeserving people.. while evil people are very wealthy and good things are going on for them.. .. and I can't answer why that happens.. maybe someone else can..

True again. But the crux of the matter for me. Is again. How much does G-d know? Or allow himself to know of the future? How can heaven rejoice when someone is saved? As a dear friend told me. When the outcomes of all things are already known? Jesus has my heart. On some intelectual levels I have questions.

Turn your heart over to Jesus..Mikkado.. Jesus Loves you VERY MUCH.... and He is waiting for you!!

Truer words have never been spoken. JESUS loves us all.

When he was in Babylon, Daniel read the prophecy of Jeremiah that the Lord would return the jewish captives to Jerusalem after 70 years.

Since it had been exactly 70 years since this was prophecied, Daniel could have just said, "OK....cool"

But instead he went on a fasting and prayer vigil where he repented for the sins of his people and his nation which he himself had not ever committed. This is the essence of intercession

I think we would do well to follow his example when we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, because when there is peace in that city there will be peace in the entire world.

Amen?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
