Get a Halley's Bible Handbook for about $10. You'll love it.

I saw it in my church's bookstore and it looks very similar to the Zondervan Handbook to the Bible. But for $10 I guess I will pick it up. I noticed that it comes in 2 flavors. A large print which is book size and the regular which is the small dime store paperback size. Which do you recommend?

I personally have several Scofield Study Bibles. I have always found them useful. I even bought both my children one as their first Bibles.

So in my opinion... You go ahead with the studies, I believe you will really benefit from it.

Just received my course materials yesterday. Read the introduction and it said that if I completed one exam every two weeks it will take me 2 1/2 years to complete the course. And here I thought it would take me less than a year. Oh boy!

Well, If you consider that Bible Study should be a life long pursuit, 2 1/2 years doesn't seem so long.

What's wrong with just a plain old King James or NKJ? Has God's message somehow changed over the last 400 years? Do the teaching's of Christ differ from what's in the KJ?

I don't understand. What's in all these other bibles that isn't in the king james?

This isn't a different translation. Its a study bible. You can pick from several different bible versions. The version I picked for my Scofield Study Bible is NKJV. You know there are different types of bibles for various purposes. Bibles are not confined to just different versions alone. Study bibles are just a big area because they contain additional reference notes, foot notes, chain references, etc. for people who want to study the bible in depth.

I'm not ripping on you or anyone else but if you really want to get an in depth look at God's message....go straight to the source.

Yep! :)
