I Thessalonians 5;1-10

 

But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 

But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.  Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 

But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,  who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

The word of God AMEN! May I ask ... I am truly confused how does theology tie into this? Not sure what your saying/asking?

Don't let your mind go to sleep.  Pay attention to the signs of the times and the Word of God.  Be alert so that you’re not caught off guard.

I Thessalonians 5:7 "For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night."

This drunkenness is the stupor of the deception of the false-christ and his religious beast.

Awesome explanation.  Something I  recently put with 5:6 that I hadn't before, (maybe you pointed it out?) is that 'watches' are military posts set to keep those sleeping safe from sneak attacks in the night.  Watch watchmen Watch, I am so slow sometimes but I just love it when something finally penetrates my brain....

And the 'be sober' a warning, as fallen angels again will be on the earth again, when kicked out of heaven with Satan, not to follow the mistakes made the first time around (eating and drinking with them).  Keep our heads covered with Christ.
