It's a process that happens in the life of every sincere believer, by the power of the Holy Spirit. It happend at the cross 2000 years ago, and his People are all who have believed upon Him from the Crucifiction until today. Did Jesus take away the sins of "his people" already? The apostle Paul seems to be pointing to the future when he speaks of 'taking away their sins'. (Romans 11:25-27) Romans 11:25-27: "For I do not want you, brothers and sisters, to be uninformed of this mystery—so that you will not be wise in your own estimation—that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; 26 and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written: “The Deliverer will come from Zion, He will remove ungodliness from Jacob.” 27 “This is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins.” Are Matthew 1:21 and Romans 1:27 pointing to the same future event?
