GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - For the first time in a decade, the founders and top political leaders of Hamas gathered on the same stage Saturday, vowing to go on fighting Israel and claiming victory for its impending withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

In a direct challenge to the Palestinian Authority, the militant groups' top brass said it rejects the idea of a sole decision-making body for the area and insists it has the right to possess weapons.

Tensions between the Palestinian Authority and Hamas have heated up in the days before Israel begins its withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and four West Bank settlements, with each trying to claim victory for the pullout.

On Saturday, Hamas leaders positioned themselves in front of the group's logo and a green Islamic flag to send a message that they have the right to possess weapons and to claim responsibility for pushing Israel out of the Gaza Strip.

The Hamas news conference comes just a day after the Palestinian Authority held its first official celebration

So what this boils down to is that Hamas will not be appeased by this handover of Israel. It appears that in their eyes Jerusalem is next on the chopping block.

I would like to point out, that it is the terrorists who are claiming Gaza for themselves. It is not the common folk who are going to benefit from the Gaza handover. It is the terrorists who stand to benefit the most from this.

The common Palestinian will be worse off in Gaza now that Israel's presence will be removed.

I saw this and thought, how long before the usual groups start with the excuses, we all know the group, the ones screaming, dialogue with them, try to understand their reasoning, they aren't bad they want the same things everybody else wants. You know Shiloh, the ones like you debate all the time here. Even after this, if I was the bettin kind, they will still find excuses and reasons why this is happening. After all its not all Muslims!

And just for the record, I'm getting really tired of seeing tripe ended with "Blessed be the Peacemakers"

Abbas, surrounded by security guards, told the crowd: "From here, from this place, our nation and our masses are walking toward the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital."

Like hello! He just said they want Jerusalem as their capital.That doesn't sound exactly peaceful to me.

Jerusalem belongs to the Children of Israel, it was given to them by God, and these men should not be so presumptious to assume they can take any or all of it away.

I have been watching the news reports on this, as thousands upon thousands of Israelites prayed at the wailing wall, God the Father has always answered the cries of the Israelites and he will not fail them now.
