A Message From The Rabbi

What more has to happen? What new plague, storm or calamity has to hit us before we finally realize what's going on? First it was AIDS, then Mad Cow disease, followed by Hoof and Mouth disease and now the SARS epidemic you would think this would be enough to make the world realize that the gods of science and government are powerless in sight of these onslaught?

G-d has already sent us His prophets to warn us of these disasters. No, not the modern day self proclaimed prophets who clog up the air waves of Christian television with their money making schemes, feeding on peoples fears, but true prophets of the most High G-d. G-d's prophets have already given us all the warning we need. I am talking about prophets such as Hosea, Isaiah, Amos and Ezekiel. These and others in the Bible have all warned us of the impending disasters that await us, if we turn away from G-d and trust in the world. What is trusting in the world? It is trusting in your finances, your education, in scientists, doctors or government for solutions, for protection.

Many of the same conditions that existed in ancient Israel, exist right here right now in our country. What Israel was doing as a nation then, we are doing as a nation now.

What was Israel's sin? It was apostasy; they had fallen away from G-d. Do you know what was worse about what was going in the nation of Israel? They had grown weary of hearing the prophets' warnings, so weary that they did not want to listen anymore, they tuned them out.

2 Divre HaYamim (2 Chronicles) {24.18} And they left the house of HaShem G-d of their fathers, and served groves and idols: and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their trespass. {24.19} Yet He sent prophets to them, to bring them again unto HaShem; and they testified against them: but they would not give ear.

Read through the Scriptures and discover for yourself. Every time G-d sent clear warnings to the people through the prophets, warnings of impending judgment, they ultimately just tuned them out and went about their lives as usual. After all, things were going well for Israel; the economy was prospering, trade with their neighbours was on the rise, their currency was strong; the prophets could not have be right! They had moved away from trusting in G-d and were trusting in prosperity, foreign alliances, and their army to defend them. For that reason they did not want to hear the warnings from the prophets. They even told Isaiah:

Yeshayahu (Isaiah) {30.10} Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

They did not want to hear the truth, what they wanted to hear was lies and deceit. History however tells us that everything Israel put their trust in failed them. Israel went into captivity, everything the prophets prophesied happened; all that Israel put their trust in failed them just as the prophets said they would.

Can you imagine anything like that happening today? After all we have history to look back on, we can learn from others' mistakes. Surely we know better now! But the truth of the matter is we have not learned a thing. Daily we read, hear and see news reports on an assortment of tragedies, killer storms, earthquakes, fires, plagues, epidemics and wars. You would think it would make people stand up and listen but despite the reports of horrible violence, disasters, hunger and crime the minds of people are tuning out, our hearts have become hardened. We have already received every kind of warning we could possible receive right down to the recent attack on everyone's golden idol, America. Will America be able to save us from the tyranny, from the impending on slot? Nothing was able to save Israel from judgment. Is our spiritual condition any better now then theirs was then?

The majority of today's so called Christian churches are preaching feel good messages. The prosperity preachers are doing better then they have ever done before. Believers are ignoring what is going on around them and instead of rejecting promiscuous life styles they are embracing them. Instead of seeing more of G-d they are seeking more secularism, more religious tolerance, looking for common ground with other religions and denominations where there is no common ground.

When Moshe ascended Mount Sinai he did so to receive the Torah. It contained, among other things, a code of ethics by which G-d wanted those who chose to serve Him to live by. But when Moshe returned from his forty days basking in the presence of G-d what he found was not a people eager to hear about law and order. He found a people that wanted freedom, they wanted to relax and party and indulge in lawlessness.

Likewise go the majority of the church today. They do not want to have restriction placed upon them, they want the freedom and liberty to worship and approach G-d the way they please. They have thrown off the yoke of G-d's law, a law designed for their good, their benefit; a law Yeshua said was easy to carry and have replaced it with a lie, "You are no longer under the Law." Well the opposite of law is lawlessness and that is exactly what Israel was engaging in at the base of Mt. Sinai.

Do you want to know why we have AIDS, Mad Cow disease, Hoof and Mouth disease and now the SARS? Here is the short list:

Abortion has killed more babies around the world then lives were lost in all wars combined.

G-d has been removed from schools and government and replaced with the religion of secularism, humanism and ecumenicalism.

Homosexuality and lesbianism have become acceptable ways of life, sanctioned by our governments.

Let me tell you that what we are experiencing today is just the beginning of sorrows the worst is yet to come, but it is not too late for those who want to turn back to G-d. For those who do and choose to follow Him with all their heart and all their soul and all their resources He makes this promise:

Tehillim (Psalms) {91.1} He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. {91.2} I will say of HaShem, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. {91.3} Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. {91.4} He shall cover you with His feathers, and under his wings shall you trust: His truth shall be your shield and buckler. {91:5} You shall not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day; {91.6} Nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday. {91.7} A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. {91.8} Only with your eyes shalt you behold and see the reward of the wicked. {91.9} Because you hast made HaShem, which is my refuge, even the most High, your habitation; {91.10} There shall no evil befall you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. {91.11} For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.

Now this is a promise you can live by!

Greetings Angels4u,

Likewise go the majority of the church today. They do not want to have restriction placed upon them, they want the freedom and liberty to worship and approach G-d the way they please. They have thrown off the yoke of G-d's law, a law designed for their good, their benefit; a law Yeshua said was easy to carry and have replaced it with a lie, "You are no longer under the Law." Well the opposite of law is lawlessness and that is exactly what Israel was engaging in at the base of Mt. Sinai.

The "law" certainly has its place today, even as it did in all prior history, but I will not be captured, nor captivated by it, for I have been delivered from the "law", and through faith in Jesus Christ have been brought into His "grace". The following verses appear to me to be saying that "law" and "grace" are OPPOSITES:

John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Romans 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Galatians 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

CONGREGATION MELECH YISRAEL OF TORONTO

A message from the Rabbi

Is there anyone who believes in Mashiach Yeshua (Messiah Yeshua) who does not want Him to return and restore peace on earth? I think that every believer is looking forward to the soon coming of Mashiach. Even the traditional Jewish community wants Mashiach now. We see their slogan "We Want Mashiach Now" on bumper stickers and in their printed materials. So both believers (Jewish and non-Jewish) as well as the unbelieving Jewish community want Mashiach now; or do we?

Scripture tells us that before Mashiach returns there would be a time of great trouble. In fact the L-rd gave the period prior to the coming of Mashiach the name "Ya'acov's (Jacob's) Trouble":

Yermiyahu (Jeremiah) {30:5}For thus saith the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace. {30:6} Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness? {30:7} Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it. {30:8} For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the L-RD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him: {30:9} But they shall serve the L-RD their G-d, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.

From this Scripture alone we can see that the coming of Mashiach is preceded by a time of great trouble. Ezekiel also tells us about a time of great trouble before the world totally turns to G-d:

Yechezkel / Ezekiel {38:22} And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. {38:23} Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the L-RD.

The book of Daniel chapters 7-12 also describes a time of great tribulation on the face of the earth prior to the coming of the Mashiach. Then of course we have the words of Mashiach Himself:

Mark {13:7} And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. {13:8} For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows. {13:24} But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, {13:25} And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. {13:26} And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

So it should be obvious to any diligent student of the Bible (believer) that prior to the coming of Mashiach there will be war and much tribulation. Considering that we know a time of war and tribulation will precede the coming of Mashiach, what should our attitude be toward current events in the world and more specifically in the Middle East?

No one wants war and I am sure you will not find anyone, other then perhaps a psychopath, who wants to see innocent people; men, woman and children needlessly killed. However the Bible clearly states that wars will take place prior to Mashiach's return. War involves death and that unfortunately includes the death of civilians as well.

We do not understand the ways of G-d. In fact He tells us that His ways are not our ways.

Yeshayahu (Isaiah) {55:9} For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

If not a sparrow falls from the sky without G-d's knowledge, then He is certainly aware of who should die and who will live. Add to that fact that for the redeemed that die, death is a beginning and not an end and then of course there is the resurrection. All who die in Mashiach Yeshua will not die but live eternally with G-d. Therefore if it is necessary for war and tribulation to take place prior to the coming of Mashiach, should we be praying against war, against trouble and tribulation? Should we be protesting against war? Or should we rather be praying, "L-rd we do not want war, we do not want to see innocent people killed, but not our will, Your will be done."

As cruel and self-serving as the African slave trade was, it resulted in the Caribbean Islands being populated by a beautiful race of people, which may have never been there otherwise. As horrendous and diabolical the holocaust was, the State of Israel was reborn out of it. Man may have his own purpose and priorities for war, but its results and outcome and ultimate priority, like everything else is determined by the L-rd.

If then you really want Mashiach now, then according to the Word of G-d you need to be prepared for war, killing, pain, loss, trials, persecution and tribulation because you will not get the former without the latter.

WE REALLY WANT MASHIACH NOW!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
